Bleeeurgh.

I do not feel well right now. I had a headache yesterday but I wrote it off to two nights in a row of 4 hours sleep. Last night, I slept over 7 hours, but I still had the headache when I woke up. The headache has persisted throughout the day and is only getting worse, and is now accompanied by mild nausea. Also, being in the sun makes it a lot worse. I don't feel tired, just shitty. A significant number of Advils hasn't seemed to do anything. :-/ I've never had a migraine before, but this seems to resemble that - can anyone who's had them comment on the likelihood? I'm not incapacitated, but I am considering going home early because I'm just not functioning well. (And to answer the common question: no I'm not noticing light or noise sensitivity. Yet?)

In much, much better news, I took my sister to Lab (my favorite cafe in Ann Arbor - it serves Intelligentsia coffee, is owned by an adorable German dude, and has super cute baristas) for frozen yogurt, and one of the aforementioned baristas hit on me! :D I've met him a couple times before and he was cute and sweet (and makes fantastic iced raspberry mochas, om nom nom), and this time we got into a pretty lengthy conversation and it was really fun! He recognized my Threadless t-shirt, and made a joke that involved a 20-side die, hee. I told him me and my sister were gonna go watch some of the game (Netherlands-Uruguay) so when we were about to leave, he offered to give me his number so I could tell him where we were watching (!!!!). But I (being a total idiot) said oh we won't be watching long, I have to go back to lab, so I didn't get his number. :( But I said I would definitely be watching Germany-Spain! (like a total idiot AGAIN - I don't want to subject him to my squeals of BASTI!!! and LAHM!!!, d'oh) And he said he'll be working at a diff restaurant, but they have a TV so I could come by? :D? So I agreed to that, lolol. What is my life? I think my plan is that I'll go there for the first half, keep the verbal capslocking to a minimum, and then go home to watch the second half with my sister. Because omggg I need to be able to FREAK OUT appropriately, haha.

Still - yay boy! He's adorable and I'm very open to this idea. :D

You might have noticed other news in that paragraph - my sister's here! I picked her up from our cousins in Ohio yesterday and now she's with me for three days, then I'm going to take her to our other cousins in Lansing! She's spending a month up here bouncing between our different relatives, lucky girl. It's good to see her. :) We spent last night rewatching Ger-Arg and watching videos of Germans being adorable. I heart my sister!

Now to try to make it through the rest of my day without keeling over. Ow my head. D:

PS I AM SO NERVOUS ABOUT GERMANY-SPAIN I COULD DIIIIIIE. I thought that was why I was nauseous, lolol. I have been obsessing about my boys non-stop, even to the point where I started a Twitter!party with fellow Germany girls from [livejournal.com profile] loewsmiserables, and we've been having a blast ever since! I love themmmm, gah. Please do me proud tomorrow, boys. ♥

Ochies :( I sometimes suffer from similar headaches, the symptoms are the same. They're not exactly migraines, but they're way worse than normal headaches. I think they're something called 'tension headaches'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tension_headache

In my case the pain will usually subside in 12 hours (if I take painkillers) and the best thing to do is just get some rest and keep your eyes closed.

I'm a frequent migraine sufferer without the meds, and it doesn't sound like a migraine to me. Perhaps a combination of a tension headache (you're stressed about science! and germany!) and dehydration? Also you could be getting rebound headaches from taking the advil.

ANNE! Fail. you should have gotten his number. But yay for watching the game with him!

I rarely get migraines but when I do they are usually kicked off by my sinuses and allergies. I tend to have incredible sensitivity to light though during that time and need to stay in bed with the cover over my face. General advil doesn't do anything and I had to take specific allergy medication to help me out, perhaps if it continues you could get a stronger headache medication? You could be suffering from mild heat stroke because MI is pretty darn (and unusually) hot at the moment right?

And Spain Vs Germany? Omggggggggggggg should be amazing but yes, NERVOUS!

Stay hydrated, girl! I used to get headaches a lot my first year in Florida, which is basically how long it took before I realized that I was dehydrating crazy faster in FL compared to NY.

Yay, boy! Yay, family!

I'm feeling surprisingly confident about tomorrow. I think it's because after watching that video on [livejournal.com profile] ontd_football I realized how many players we have that are capable of scoring and coming through and generally being badasses, where as Villa feels like he's carried Spain this far. I mean, for all I know (and for all their talent) Spain could surprise me and really bring their A-game, but compared to the sheer amount of people we have doing well for Germany...

I am staying very hydrated, actually. :( It's not that.

I'm feeling reasonably confident too, though I bounce between that and terrified that our string of awesomeness just can't keep being so awesome - life isn't that awesome! Haha. But no, it's an excellent point, and it's how I've consoled myself about the temporary loss of Mueller. I thought, well, we've lost Mueller, but we've still got Oezil (who's been rather quiet these last two games, but I think in Mueller's absence he could really step it up a notch), Schweini, Poldi, Miro, Khedira, and even Lahm and Boateng as playmakers who have been dangerous and effective on the attack. In short, we have a team that is working together towards a common goal. (Lol, goal) Spain on the other hand has been incredibly reliant on Villa to rescue them - can you imagine if Villa was suspended instead of Mueller? Ha!

So yes. This is absolutely a team that is gelling gorgeously and IF they keep playing like they are, they should have no problem against Spain. But Spain could surprise us, like you said - and that's what's worrying me!

COME ON DEUTSCHLAND!

Remember, we lost Miro for the Ghana game, and look what happened there. We were not at our best form, but we still did well, and that was before being able to ride on the England and Argentina victories. I don't think taking out any single player ruins the team as a whole, and Mueller's absence will be no different. Besides, it is completely ridiculous to think that we're relying on a player who just a few months ago was playing in youth leagues! I mean, really guys, we're more than Mueller.

Unfortunately I think Oezil's recent loss of his grandmother is affecting his performance and there's no good way to fix that. (I admit I'm working on writing fic involving this fact, Nutella, and Schweinski. What can I say? I'm shameless.)

I don't want to underestimate Spain. Most of their men are absolutely DANGEROUS at club level so they definitely have the talent to beat us, as long as they bring their own team unity and good form. I want the game to be good as much as I want us to win. Then again, I wonder if England and Argentina underestimated us because our men tend to do so poorly at club level? *stuff to ponder*

Tomorrow will be awesome to watch either way! I'm actually going to the pub for this one in my Bayern Munich trainer jersey (and if anyone thinks I'm rooting for Spain because I'm wearing red, I swear to God...)

Sounds like tension and/or sinus headache. I'd recommend getting some benadryl or claritin that has a decongestant in it (for the real decongestant - ie pseudophed - you'll have to ask behind the counter for it). For tension headaches, I'd recommend going ahead and finding some excedrin for it -- something about acetominophen plus caffeine really helps kick those (or take a tylenol with a cup of soda) while ibuprofen family won't generally touch it. You can then try to take a really hot shower to see if you can get things to relax at all.

BTW, for a difference, tension headaches generally feel like there's a really tight band around you head that won't quit and can also come with fun blood pressure poundy pain too. Sinus headaches, generally, if you push where your head hurts the pain will relieve incrementally for a short time while you are pushing (don't ask me why, but it's true).
