exsequarBAYERN WON YESTERDAAAAAY! On a literally last gasp (91st minute!) goal by Daniel van Buyten, of all people, but my boys fought and fought and deserved to come away with the win. Thank god, because we REALLY needed those damn points. It still wasn't very good for my heart - Lahm is playing atrociously, and I NEVER thought I would say that (and okay, he's playing fine, but for his normal standards? ATROCIOUS). And most horrible of all, Ribéry was supported off the field crying and yelling in agony - he'll be out for at least 4 weeks, possibly longer. :((( We... uh, kind of need him, especially without Robben. So THAT sucks. But we came away with the points and I'm clinging to that.

Die Spieler is a photography book comprised of 200 enormous glossy photos of our boys in beautiful Strenesse suits and includes pillow fights, cake throwing, tug of war, and pool frolicking. Um. IT'S PRETTY MUCH PERFECTION. (Best $50 I ever spent, cough.) And you can see it all in this here video!
Basti in just the armband (well, also shorts, damn ;)) makes my brain shortcircuit. Unfortunately there's only one surviving photo of this glorious occasion. :((((

Ahahaha. I love Südafrika for providing us with many ridic videos of our boys dancing because the South Africans would sing songs for them after practice! This is Basti with Holger Badstuber, one of our defenders.
Even our coaches, Jogi and Hansi, are suuuuper adorbs.

And we'll finish out with my very favorite little German (well... second favorite, after that Bastian fellow up there). PHILIPP LAHM. Mini fussballer extraordinaire (he's 5'6"!) and one of the best fullbacks in the entire world. He's the only player to be nominated to both the WC2006 and 2010 All Star teams. :D He was also the captain of Germany at WC2010 in the absence of Michael Ballack, thus becoming the youngest captain of a German World Cup team ever! (He's 26)
One of the reasons he's my favorite is because he's an attacking defender, and it's gorgeous. Here he is scoring the FIRST GOAL of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, like a total boss. <333
His team LOVES him and LOVES hugging him. He's the perfect height!
An adorable celebration for another, even more important goal he scored - a last gasp winning goal over Turkey in the semifinal of the EURO 2008. HE'S SUCH A BAMF.

Arne: I’d like to know, what were your feelings after making that Goal?
Philipp: Just joy. It was just before the end and you know how it is. You’re just happy and all the joy comes out and you did see that through all our cheering.
Arne: Well I don’t know how it feels to shoot a goal for the national team therefore… It’s ok. The elation is huge in Germany and the fans are glad. We’re mutually overjoyed. The next game lies ahead of us. We’ll probably play against Spain or maybe Russia. It’s not certain yet. Which team would you prefer?
Philipp: Both are difficult. It’s the final. There are no easy opponents anymore. That’s why if we can give our best performance with 100% we’ll win. Whoever will come. But it won’t be easy. You could see that against the Turkey yesterday. You had to give it your best until the very end. Yesterday we came off as the winners and now I’m hoping that we’ll get the title on Sunday.
Arne: Recently I saw something on television. In fact that as a young lad (Note: “Bub” is a typical Bavarian phrase) you were very shy and that you had to play a tree in a school’s play. Is that correct?
Philipp: Those are rumours. I don’t want to comment on those.
Arne: I’ve got them from a reliable source. Your mother told me about it. You don’t want to say anything about it?
