A/N: Inspired partially by Dean’s line in The Benders: “Ever since then I’ve felt responsible for him, like it’s my job to keep him safe.” This fic sprang to life as bits and pieces, and gradually became a coherent whole, though composed of varied vignettes. A/N: I absolutely love Sam's line in Bloody Mary, "You're my brother, and I'd die for you." And Dean's tiny little frown in reaction. So this idea kind of came out of that, as a bit of an elaboration of each of their thoughts on the subject. It was written in chemistry class (AGAIN), so it's not really perfect. But I like it.
