Of *course* not, honey. Don't think that for one second. In fact, I very much liked your post, and agreed with it quite thoroughly. Wincest isn't *wholly* canon for me, and I sometiems have weird disconnect moments where my fanon DeanandSam collides with the canon one, but mostly they get along nicely ^_^ I was going to comment, but I've basically been avoiding the whole thing.

Sadly, I've seen it several times in the past few days. Generally by the same people, too. I kind of get the feeling like it's just these people trying to feel like they're...I dunno...better than the majority or something? Above us all? And since the majority likes Wincest, then Wincest must be looked down upon with disdain and there's NO context for it, and you're silly to think so and blah blah blah-cakes.

You're right. There's NO true interpretation of canon, just what YOU interpret. And that should be all that matters, but apparently it's not.

Dude. I'm not even a person who normally sees slash or whatever when it isn't there. It has to be REALLY blatant for me to be like, "Oh yeah, they want each other", and even *I* can see the Sam/Dean lurrrrrrve.

Ok I've not seen the wank, but I'm guessing it has to do with people/a person saying Wincest is wrong.

Here's my 2 cents. I am anti-wincest, I really don't like it, I don't like the idea of it, and it makes me feel kinda sick, but it also makes me feel sick to think that people would then force that opinion onto other people. If they're grown ups then it's their decision if they ship Sam/Dean, I'd expect a non-wincest person to be as thoughtful in their non-wincesting as most people are in their wincesting. ie. Stuff behind cuts, no graphic stuff shoved down the throats of others.

And like you say in the earlier comments, it's all a matter of perception.

Why can't everyone just get along? Myself, I don't go in for the Wincest but I'm not going to begrudge it anyone else or go off one one about "how wrong it is". It's fandom for crying out loud, if people are happy with Wincest then that's that. If people are happy without Wincest then that's that too.

*Hugs you* I will back you up on this because I've had people rant and rave about real person slash which has made me feel like shit (and I even suffered a panic attack because of it). I've finally just accepted what I like, and I realize that not everyone will agree with it, but it's my choice, innit? Seriously. It's really not necessary to lash out at other people. It's very much like the crazy people in religion who try cramming their beliefs down your throat because you don't necessarily believe [insert crazy idea here] (please note, I'm not singling out any one religion or calling everyone who believes in a specific religion crazy--most are awesome people just trying to live their lives).

My personal view is helped by the Beatles: if it's not hurting anyone...let it be. For serious. Everyone would just be happier if they could just disagree and let it be. I can understand if people think it's disrespectful and wrong and nasty...but honestly? Fandom isn't about disrespecting people. Fandom is about the love you have for something and expressing it through words/art/etc.

I guess that's all I have to say (this is a touchy subject for me), but yeah. Even though I'm not a Supernatural person, I am a damn proud member of fandom, and people just need to live and let live.

My response to this canon/fanon Supernatural wank is.... Because the writerfolk want it that way. Period. Everyone has the right to write what floats their boat.

You know the phrase "My house, my rules" ? Well, Supernatural canon/fanon incest, wincest, demoncest, metallicarsex, whatever should be viewed the same way. "My fic, my brain, my tastes, my rules. Respect 'em or leave 'em. Don't expect me to change 'em for you".

And HELL don't come into 'my house', tell me you don't like my 'decor' and tell me I'm 'WRONG'. Your mom would be appalled at such bad manners.
