I spent my Friday night hanging out with the sci fi soc boys (yes, again) but this time we just stayed in their club room and watched Sunshine and Not Another Teen Movie and Shaun of the Dead. Sunshine was FABULOUS. A really awesome sci fi/horror movie. Yes, it really did become quite scary, but they did a good job of making you care about the characters quickly so it really hit hard. It was also beautifully made, with some of the best CGI work I've ever seen. I really liked it a lot.

Not Another Teen Movie is hilarious - what I find amusing though is that it makes fun of several movies that i absolutely love, and has the effect of making me want to see them RIGHT NOW. Ten things I hate about you! Bring it on! Two of my very favoritest movies, haha.

Putting on Shaun of the Dead was inspired, I think, by my tshirt - I was wearing my Threadless "What to do in a zombiepocalypse" tshirt, the one that tells you "she's not your mother anymore!" Hahaha. Of course there was a few minutes of everyone staring at my chest and trying to read the instructions, lmao. I love that shirt ;)

So I just realized that Resident Evil: Extinction is out here, OMG. I really really really want to see it! I have to think that some of the sci fi guys wanna see it too, but I feel kind of awkward calling. I wanted to call or text Colin seeing if he wanted to go, but I decided against texting because it's hard to say everything I want to say in a text - namely, asking if he liked the first two, asking if anybody else would want to go, and explaining that it's totally cool if he doesn't want to. You know, to make it clear that I'm not asking him out. Because I'm not! I just wanna see the movie, lol. The only other guys' numbers from the group I have are Conor (you know, the one from the club night, so, awkward) and Niall, who is out of town now. Meh. I'll figure it out!

Guys, SO MUCH TEEVEE. I downloaded and watched Supernatural, of course, because that's still top priority. I liked some things about the episode, but from reading other peoples' reactions, I was seeing that people loved the episode and then they'd have a line in their reaction about what they DIDN'T like - namely, Ben's similarities to Dean being way too pronounced, or Sam and Dean not being together a lot - but they still loved the episode. My problem is that those two things grated on me so terribly that I had a hard time enjoying the episode as a whole. Dude, music taste is not genetic. Not in that specific of a way, anyway. And what the hell kind of 8 year old is an obnoxious girl chaser? Eight year old boys say "ewww, girls!" and no genes are going to change that. There were a few moments that made me "aww" - particularly Ben running back and hugging Dean, and then of course the very end when Dean is at his vulnerable, softie best. And that's the thing - I HATE horndog Dean. Okay, hate is a strong word, but it's definitely my least favorite thing about him. So the fact that they are playing it up right now is really, really turning me off the whole thing. The moments when we see real Dean, sensitive, compassionate, wonderful Dean, that's when I finally get latched in.

The other thing turning me off is Dean and Sam drifting away from each other. It's hard to enjoy the show when I'm impatiently waiting for Sam and Dean to have a real conversation.

And the third thing that really bothered me about the episode was the girl. The demon girl, to clarify, because Lisa, aka Gumby, was awesome (and GORGEOUS, holy crap). There were a couple things about demon girl that were fun - the ketchup thing was pretty great - but mostly her mannerisms just annoyed the fuck out of me. I don't think the girl is a good actress, I think her dialogue is stilted and cliched, and I just. don't. like her. The demon twist is cool, and I'm intrigued, but I can't help that when she talks I kind of want to slap her.

Things I did like: Sam being hotter than the sun, goddamn. The creepy creepy Changeling plot - those kids freaked me OUT, and the woman drowning her kid in the car was really painful. And the info that Mary's friends all got killed, and the yellow-eyed demon storyline is not done yet, not by a long shot - I like that. I'm looking forward to that unfolding.

I feel bad getting down on our show. I really do. I still love our boys and I have hopes that things will start picking up. I'm sorry if I harshed anyone's squee, it is not my intent! I WANT to love our show, really I do, but I'm just not feeling it at the moment.

As for other TV - I'm downloading SGA 4x03 and Pushing Daisies 1x02 right now, I have to download FNL 2x02 later, I already have the latest episodes of House and Heroes downloaded, as well as the pilot of Dirty Sexy Money because everyone and their sister is raving about it. So. Much. TV! *flails* And I should probably be studying at some point, meh.

Ahahahahaha. My roommate just changed the channel and went "Oh my god, it's Junior." and I was like huh? So she explained that it's a movie about Arnold Schwarzenegger HAVING A BABY. Like. PHYSICALLY BIRTHING A CHILD. THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT MPREG. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

And on that note, farewell <3

Actually, this is a closely kept male secret -- they are. B has told many a story of a five year old him alone at the beach running up to 20-somethings to say he was lost so they'd pick him up and he could get a better look at his cleavage. Or going to football games w/ his dad at the age of eight and ogling the cheerleaders and then going back to school and being "ewww" about the 8 year old girls because they didn't look like the cheerleaders. Het boys of any age like women that look like women. Het boys just don't like little girls that look way too much like little boys.

Huh, really? That's kind of... disturbing >.> But still, the kid in the show was talking about the chicks... his age. It just didn't feel normal. Way overdone, imo.

Does that mean that he's gay? If the girls his age still look like little boys, and he's hitting on them? lol

SGA was just FABULOUS (I was just typing up an entry about it easlier when I got distracted by my friends) and also Heroes (OMG MATT/MOHINDER FTW). I loved Supernatural, but not for the obvious reasons why I usually love episodes. It was just good, in terms of me actually enjoying the plot. Yeah, horndog Dean is really not my thing either, but I KNOW the episode of him breaking down is coming.

I want my own group of geeky boys too. :(

Eeee, I'm so glad! About SGA and Heroes. I'm excited! I've just gone out and got my grocery shopping done, so I think I'm going to treat myself to a TV evening :D Whee!

Yeah I guess that's true. But I want Dean to break down NOW - I hate this version of him :-/ It's the Dean from the pilot, who, when I first watched, I thought was buffoonish and obnoxious. It's so distracting to me. He better fall apart soon! :P

Dude, it's so much fun. Slightly awkward in some ways (I wish I wasn't a girl! Then there would be none of that) but it's totally worth it. They're *so fun*. :D

AMEN I say to that. I like Sam with Dean and vice versa. They only had a few words together the whole episode.

Absolutely agree.

FNL is fantabulous. Am at Wincon & watched it last night with [livejournal.com profile] pyroblaze18 and converted [livejournal.com profile] wandereringray as a new Tim Riggins fan. And Landry was AMAZING.

Wish you were here with us!

Oh I'm glad someone else feels the same! I'm trying to stay open minded on the girl, but she was so annoying. Bleh.

Aww yay Wincon! I bet you're having a blast! I really wish I was there too. I'm a completely different person than I was a year ago, you know? I don't think I'd feel as much like the baby this time. Sigh. Maybe next year. But yay for new FNL fans! \o/ And I can't wait to watch the ep!

I skipped the SPN talk, because I haven't seen it yet! *cries*

But dude, you're making me want to watch Sunshine so bad! Nobody would go with me, so I had to sit that one out. I admit, both the theme and the eye-candy appealed to my tastes!

I never want to think about The Arnold having babies. To quote Summer Roberts "EEEWW" *scrubs brain* HAHAHA.

Oh man, if you like sci fi, you need to see this movie. The opinion of the group I watched with was actually really split though - it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of movie. But I think that you, as a girl, would love it like I did - there was everything! Really gorgeous CGI shots of this spaceship near the sun, and all this intense rich sunlight. Then there were the characters, who despite only getting the briefest of introductions were incredibly sympathetic, and I felt really strongly for their plight. The pretty sure as hell didn't hurt, either! :D Definitely check it out on DVD or something when you can!

Lollll EWWWWW INDEED. Just. What a bizarre idea!

OMG, how have you not seen Junior??? THE MOST HILARIOUS PREMISE EVER!

Also, I tend to confuse all of those parody movies. Not Another Teen Movie is the one with the dog and the cream buns, right? *shudder* But yay for 10 Things! I really want to see it now you've mentioned it. It's totally one of my favourite movies ever. :D
