I feel nauseous.

Heath was such a positive and bright presence in my adolescence - I bet there's less than a handful of you that hasn't seen 10 Things I Hate About You or A Knight's Tale. And then he proved himself to be so much more than a pretty face, turning in a performance that was lightyears beyond just "a gay cowboy," and I was so fucking proud of him.

And now he's dead.

I had no idea anything was even wrong. That's why this hurts so much - it's just so out of the blue.

RIP, Heath. You will be missed.

I saw it on CNN.com while I was at work and I stared at the computer in shock--jaw hanging open, unblinking--and it felt like someone socked me in the stomach. And I know how people often say that, but it honestly? It really felt like the wind was knocked out of me. Which feels kind of strange, now. He wasn't my favourite actor (then again, I don't have just one, and I certainly liked him a great deal), I haven't seen all of his work, and yet...it struck me.

I've been obsessively looking forward to "The Dark Knight" for about two months now (I even have the trailer on my iPod...Jesus, I just watched it twice before bed a couple nights ago), and I realized a few minutes after I heard the news that that will be his last film (because I doubt that they'll cancel its release since it has to be pretty deep into post-production by now, and his other project, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" is still filming, which leads me to believe they'll have to recast unless his scenes are finished). His performance as The Joker looks to be one of his best, filled with complexity and intensity and passion and everything one sees when he is on screen.

He will, indeed, be sorely missed.
