Except no, this time, this time WE'VE got this. WE'VE GOT THIS. We are going to vote, and volunteer, and hope and fight and win.

Today is a historic day. Take part. Find your local campaign office - you'll be blown away. Follow Huffington Post as the day progresses and stories roll in about record-breaking lines, stories of endurance and courage and hope. Last night I read about a woman who had just had a Caesarian section and had her husband drop her off at the early voting booth so she could vote, still in her hospital slippers. A 90-year old woman, bent in half over her walker, who waited in line so she could cast her vote for Obama.

Thousands of these stories will ring across the nation today. Don't get lost in despair when you hear this polling location or that is getting a bit FUBARed. For every fucked up machine, there are thousands upon thousands logging vote after vote for Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. So far on my flist this morning I have seen stories of record breaking lines twice.

This is not a run of the mill election.

Yes we can. Yes, we can.

(Please feel free to share your election day stories here with me! And don't forget: VOTE!)

I don't know what's harder on the nerves right now - for you guys, trying to actually make this happen or, in the case of myself and many others, having such an emotional stake in the election yet not being able to actually influence anything. I'm actually planning on skipping my classes tomorrow so I can stay up with CNN however long it takes tonight.

But, you know, seriously. All of us, on LJ or not, are following this one closely, and we're keeping our fingers crossed for all of you. ♥
