I think that it's evident from the wide range of images I've selected here that Band of Brothers is an incredibly diverse visual experience, but it's always beautiful. The settings range from stark and cold to warm and vibrant, and the colors and filming style so well-reflect the atmosphere and mood of the corresponding place and events. The camera also really loves to find objects and fill the screen with them, make them larger than life - I particularly love how the typewriter is shot, and images like Doc Roe's bleeding finger in Bastogne. I love the contrast of images like Renee at the aid station - as a whole, the image is bleached and desolate, but the vividness of her blue scarf, the blood on her sleeves, the red aid station banner - it's just so striking. They also managed to find some truly breathtaking times of day to film - I think the pink, vaguely haunting sky over the battle in Holland is so exquisite, just to pull out one example. I know a lot of the series is beautiful because it's portraying beautiful men, but I hope I've reminded you what a masterpiece of film the entire series is, because I really think that's worth appreciating! ♥

Episode 6 - I got about 12 minutes in, but was so tense during those 12 minutes, I couldn't keep going. I made the mistake of listening to the interviews at the beginning of the episode - I shouldn't have done that, as it was having an idea of what might happen that made it so hard for me to watch.

Sorry, I realised you were talking about episode 7, so I had to quickly stop reading the rest of your comment - I'm trying to stay spoilerfree (I reckoned I could skim your images now, and look at them properly later, when I've seen the entire series).

OH MY, I am SO sorry!!! *facepalm* I completely forgot you hadn't finished the series. Please don't read the rest of my comment, I was awful and spoilery and a total idiot. Oops. :-/

There are some mild spoilers in the end of this spam, but I don't think most of them make any sense without context. There are definitely spoilers in my Roe and Lieb spams though so steer clear!

I'm very sorry again. I will restate my encouragement then - Episode 6 is somewhat difficult, but it's more a pervasive misery and hopelessness than specific horrible events. Following Roe around is actually a really nice perspective on the Bois Jacques saga, because you see that even though he was low on supplies, he had his heart fully set on protecting all of his men and taking the best care of them he could. He forges a lovely human connection that's a real pleasure to watch, and is generally a loveable sweetheart that you want to give an enormous hug. The Breaking Point is a little more action-filled, and therefore tragic, but... still beautiful. They're very difficult episodes of television for sure, but also very worth getting through. And after everything, you have POINTS!!!, which is EASY FROLICKING IN THE SUN! (Well. Mostly.) Ahem. The point is, soldier on my dear, it's worth it. :)

(And consider me still headdesking for spoiling you. :()

Heavens, no need to apologise! I wouldn't have said anything, but as I didn't want to read to the end of your comment, I didn't know if there was anything I needed to answer, and didn't want to be horribly rude and just ignore something!

And yay for giving me an easy episode to look forward to! I'm going to try to find a watching buddy sometime over the next week or two, for 6 and 7, and then I should be safe on my own. Yes, I'm a wimp, I know! But I so want to battle my way through it, because the first half was so fantastic (though I struggled rather in one of the earlier episodes, 3 I think), and I want to see the rest of their story.
