I said "if they keep up their form" - and they didn't. I don't understand why they didn't (was Mueller that crucial? Were they that scared of Spain?) but... they didn't. It wasn't the same beautiful game we saw the past couple weeks.

I am heartbroken. It ended 2 hours ago and the tears are still flowing every few minutes. I never expected to get this invested in any sports team, and I suppose I should have prepared myself for the worst, but - they looked like they were going to win. They DESERVED to win with they way they were playing.

But you know what? This team was considered underdogs entering the tournament. They were young, inexperienced, and riddled with injury.

But they got to the semis. They still have the highest goal count of the tournament, and can add to it on Saturday. They have a chance to land a golden boot for Mueller or Klose, and a Best Player of the Tournament award for Basti, which he fucking deserves.

In short, they were amazing. And I am so, so proud of them. I'll see you in 2012 boys - my heart is yours forever now.

Oh and also - DESTROY URUGUAY! I really want to see you smile again before I have to say goodbye, okay?

&Die Mannschaft; Thanks for a great ride. I love you.

YES ALL OF THIS. This is the beginning of an extremely exciting era in German football - I think I need to start thinking about it that way. The pain is extremely acute right now, but we got to the SEMIS! We're in the top four teams in the world! And there is such a sparkling future ahead. ♥

Oh boys. IDK what happened out there. Other than Schweini and Lahm, they looked very subdued and possession was awful. Ramos esp dominated Poldi. I'm guessing it was nerves and intimidation against a more experienced Spain side, and the lack of any early lead, which allowed them the confidence they needed to score in earlier matches.

IDGAF though, they're still my boys, and Spain may have deserved to win this match but our boys deserved to win the tournament.

Can't stop crying. Would seeing pictures of the team coping help you deal/ make it worse? I could post some if they'll cheer you up. D:

I think it will... help, ultimately. Right now I feel lost and adrift and alone, and seeing them sharing my misery, as much as it hurts, would make it feel more like I'm part of something. Thanks, bb. ♥

I agree that Basti and Lahm looked good, but their efforts were frustrated by their teammates letting them down - not anticipating passes, not making runs. In fact, age showed *very* strongly in this game - the experienced players (Basti, Lahm, Arne, Per) held it together (plus Neuer! DAMN SON) while Oezil and Boateng, and somewhat Khadira, among others, very badly showed their nerves. Trochowski and Kroos were good but they didn't have the sparkling instinct of Mueller.

I do think that in 2 years this team will be unstoppable though. I can't wait.

...okay I clicked and yeah I'm NOT ready. Not yet. But thank you - I will look at them when I'm not still on the verge of fresh tears.

OK I WAS TOTALLY READY FOR THAT.

The way Basti's hand curves around Poldi's skull...sdflkjlsdfj. WE STILL HAVE SCHWEINSKI!

Do you know who they swapped shirts with? I think Schweini swaped with David Villa. Not sure about Poldi though.

Schweinski forever!!!!! <3 <3 <3

I wish there was some way to know what they were saying!!!

Nah, Villa swapped with Klose (it was very sweet and classy). Pretty sure Basti swapped with Iniesta. Dunno about Poldi.

I'm so glad they're still pretty close. <333

Awwwww... I want to see all the shirt swapping, but I couldn't stand to watch them be sad on the pitch, esp after Schweini was shown alone, near tears. D:

Yeah, absolutely. What they can achieve with more experience and years!! <3 <3 <3

Can't wait.

I'm so sorry for you ;__; It kills me to be this happy for Spain when so many of my friends were rooting for Germany. I really hope they kick Uruguay's ass!

Thank you for being so classy, hon. There are a lot of nasty Spain fans but all of my friends who are Spain fans have been very gracious and sweet to me. I'm glad that you're happy, and that we didn't lose to a team that pisses me off - the Spanish boys were very classy to my boys after the match, and that's all I can ask for. Good luck in the final, I'd much rather see Spain win than the Netherlands!

Oh it really pisses me off how some people are being so evil towards fans of opposing teams! They're turning the knife in the wound and enjoying it >:(

They should follow Fernando's example and offer comfort instead of malicious comments!

I'm so sorry, darling! *cuddles* I couldn't watch the game after all (stupid work) but I was looking forward to seeing these boys play the way they do. I was sort of rooting for both of them but I'm still not convinced Spain deserves it, idk. Germany's definitely been the best team overall, for me.

WHY IS FOOTBALL SO HEARTBREAKING? ♥!!!

*clings* Paulllla! Thank you for being so sweet.

Germany didn't play the way they have been recently, and that makes me sad. But they have the quality and the teamgeist - I know the next few years hold bright things.

I KNOW RIGHT?! UNFAIR. ♥♥

A;alsdkjfal;ksdj I'm so sorryyyyyy, bb :((((((

*HUGS SO BIG*

I watched the game before I went to work (and was actually LATE because of it) and my dad was being such a jerk about it, cheering for Spain and being generally obnoxious about the German players and I just wanted to PUNCH HIM IN THE HEAD >:( All I could think about the whole time was you, babe. It was so heartbreaking watching them play the way they did, knowing how frustrated and upset you would be. I have no idea what happened either, and it's so awful that one bizarrely bad game can end things so quickly. That's the way it is, I guess, but I know it really fucking hurts all the same :(

How can you be obnoxious about the German players??? They're all sweetness personified. :(((((( There were some Spain supporters in the bar I was in but luckily none near me.

They were so heartbreaking. :( It's so sweet that you thought of me. I have lots of theories about why they played the way they did, but the long and short of it is that they choked, and they paid the price. :-/ I'm so sad, but confident that we're entering a golden age of German football and there will be a trophy in our near future! I'm planning on following my babies in the Bundesliga in the interim - I'm too in love with Bastian Schweinsteiger to let him go. :)

Can you tell I've spent a long time talking to my fellow Germany fans and getting my head straightened out? I promise I wasn't this logical 5 hours ago. I still have a headache from crying though. :(

*clings to you* Thanks bb. ♥♥

Although you know I was rooting for Spain, I felt so awful when they won because I immediately thought of you. Also, Germany has been DELIGHTFUL to watch this World Cup. I may have supported some odd teams, myself, but I had figured Germany would play some great games. They did wonderfully even if they weren't completely with it during today's game. Hell, Germany will have a LOT of future successes with this team.

So ::hugs:: to you. I feel bad being sort of happy with so many Germany fans in my life both online and off. :(

It's rather startling and sweet that so many people were thinking of me during this match. Am I that crazy in my obsession? Don't answer that - haha. But seriously - thank you, honey, it's so sweet of you to think of me! I'm sorry if I sullied your enjoyment of Spain's win. :( Please don't feel at all bad about being happy for Spain - that's how sports go! We'll get over this, move on, and emerge even stronger in 2012. I have so much faith in my boys.

Good luck in the final! :)
