Don't you change the things you do

The interview with Zach Quinto in Playboy is just wonderful. They're actually quite good questions, and ZQ is SO well-spoken! Sometimes when I'm reading fic I think authors overdo it with the grammar and vocab, but no, he actually talks like a particularly well-written academic book! OH ZACHARY. We love you so. ♥ Unsurprisingly, my favorite part of the interview is when he talks about being half-Irish, and how it helps him 1) when he "sidles up to a bottle of Jameson" (UGH A MILLION HEARTS), or 2) when he spent a summer living in Galway. He says "the people in Ireland are amazing". I could not agree any more, ZQ!!! If I ever met him, we would totally bond over the amazingness of Ireland. Sigh, that PLACE. This BOY. <33333 (Plz note icon. I love this GQ motherfucker.)

stereomer. You know she's awesome, so what are you waiting for? :)
So tonight I finished watching the first season of Leverage. I haven't talked about it much (at all?), but I started watching it a couple months ago with my best friend. So, clearly this is not, like, super high-quality television or anything. But it has three glorious assets: Christian Kane, Aldis Hodge, and Beth Riesgraf. All three of them are pretty damn wonderful, and I adore their darling selves. Aldis/Hardison in particular. He's such a geek, and so funny, but he also has really lovely sensitive moments. Parker was off-putting at first, but I definitely warmed up to her extremely oddballness and came to appreciate that as a very endearing and unique aspect of her character. She's really deeply... weird, but also sweet and lovely and just so adorably unaware of her weirdness. And Elliot! I just love Elliot. He kicks ass all the time, which is clearly hot, and he's so grumbly and rough-edged but you always know there lurks the heart of a squishy teddybear. Plus, CHRISTIAN KANE. If this is what you decided to do instead of giving me more music, Mr. Kane, I suppose I can forgive you. In short, the three of them are fantastic and absolutely the reason I watch this show.
Sophie I am not very interested in, but that's mostly because her character is largely defined by her relationship with Nate. And Nate... well, lets just say I am the opposite of fascinated by or sympathetic to him. I find him boring, self-involved, smug, and a total asshole about his drinking. I understand that alcoholism is a disease, but the way he acts about it is just so unpleasant, completely turning away all attempts to help him and acting like he's got everything under control. I also find him pretty intensely unattractive (something about the ears, the watery eyes, and the flabby chin) soooo as a protagonist he pretty much fails spectacularly for me. Nate is what keeps this show from being unmitigated fun for me. I love everything to do with the three little ones, and feel an intense desire to fast-forward through all of Nate's scenes.
Needless to say, I'll be tuning in next year - I just wish they'd gotten someone better for the lead role! Or written a different character. Or both. The stories are ridiculous but self-aware in their ridiculousness, and from what I've seen, the people in charge of the show are pretty great. So overall it's a win, I think! (Hardisonnnn)
Is there any good fic for this show? I definitely would not object to some well-done Elliot/Hardison, or definitely Hardison/Parker, they are SO SWEET. Or a party for everyone perhaps? :D Just curious if there's anything out there!
I think the show I'm going to tackle next is BONES. I've caught several episodes on TV, and every time I find myself making awwwwww noises at Booth and Brennan, and I really like the supporting characters, so yes. Looking forward to it! \o/ I'm also approaching the end of season 4 of Six Feet Under - ugh, I LOVE this show. I love it SO MUCH. It's dark in content all the time, and everyone's fucked up, but somehow it's not depressing, just eye-opening. The characters are just so... alive, which is a wonderful irony. Claire is 10000% my favorite, she is amazing. Sigh, FISHERS. ♥

Date: 2009-06-09 07:23 am (UTC)Also, ZACH QUINTOOOOO! *chinhands* He is just...so lovely. The SAT Word War going on between him and Chris is pretty much my FAVORITE THING EVERRRR. In my heart of hearts I hope that they spend long afternoons just fucking and whispering long, multi-syllabled words into each other's ears omg.

Date: 2009-06-10 08:38 pm (UTC)Ooh, is this your first time watching Six Feet Under? I literally just finished watching the series for the first time this week, and I can't get it off my mind. It's such a fucked-up, depressing, joyous, hilarious, unsettling, weird show, and I love it. David is my fave. ♥

Date: 2009-06-10 08:53 pm (UTC)It is my first time watching SFU! Ahaha I love your icon. I love that part where Claire bursts into song in the kitchen. All the surreal little things that we see from inside their heads are so cool and give the show such a unique tone and feel. It really is all the things you said, which is quite a feat! Everyone is perpetually screwed up, but there's moments of light and love and it's never... too difficult to watch, you know? It would be easy to go there with these characters but they haven't, and I really appreciate that. I've been told that the series finale is deeply affecting and powerful - I'm scared but also excited. I'm sure I'll get there within the week!
I have no icons from either of these shows! :( Have some surprise!JDM.
