Yes, I know y'all have been going on about it for ages upon ages. I was an idiot, mea culpa, etc etc. But that's all behind us now because OMG ADDICTED. I'm on 2x08 and I only started watching season 1 two weeks ago. Amazing.

Right now, it's at a weird place where I really could not give a shit about half the storylines (Maryann, Daphne, Lorena, even Tara's pissing me off, and Sam is booooring), but the rest is all OMGOMGOMG EEEEE. I LOVE and cherish Eric (ASKARSSSSS), Lafayette, HOYT OMG HOYT, Jessica, Terry, and Arlene. I feel mostly pleasantly towards Sookie and Bill and Jason. It's an odd mix, but the EEEEE more than makes up for the bleh. ASKARS I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH. (Though I will say he's much hotter as Brad, without the red-rimmed eyes.)

SO. YES. TRUE BLOOD. Come make noises at me now that I've seen so much of it! I don't have a lot of intelligent thoughts or anything, since it's TOTALLY ON CRACK, but I had to make a post since it's devoured me starting with my bottom. :D

Ooh and I have a shiny new Band of Brothers mood theme! HI LUZ YER FACE. <3333 I also added interest icons for Generation Kill, True Blood, and White Collar to my LJ sidebar. I need to make a new header but I just didn't get around to it this weekend.

The Pacific started tonight! I didn't get to see it because I don't even have network TV, much less HBO, but I will be *cough* obtaining it soon! SO EXCITED.

I'm hoping there's MOAR ERIC AND GODRIC because omfg I love them. It's the first pairing on the show that's made me want fic, and want it BADLY. Unnffff.

I go back and forth on Bill and Sookie. I find them moderately compelling, and I don't know, they don't make me want to go browse the internet while they're talking like Maryann and Tara do right now. I suppose they're interesting in comparison, haha, which is not all that high of praise.

Welcome to the crack! I'll warn you that if you suddenly feel the desire to read the books they are extremely trashy, but also fun in a turn your brain off kind of way. The show is not a direct retelling of the books, for example there is a lot more Eric in the books but he's a somewhat different character. Anyway, I'm glad you're watching because there aren't enough True Blood fans on my friends list.

If you haven't guessed yet, I love Eric. I also love Jason, Jessica, and Lafayette. I quite like Bill and Sookie as characters, but they bore me as a couple. I can tolerate them for the time being, though. I predict big changes next season, which I think will dramatically improve the show.

I'm pretty sure I will steer away from the books - I've got too much on my To Read list anyway, and I'm not generally a fan of trashy novels!

Now that Jason's away from the Fellowship of the Sun nutjobs, I think I will start growing fonder of him. He's always been entertaining, and getting more and more endearing, but I just couldn't be all that happy with him when he was consorting with NUTJOBS. I really don't like religious fundamentalism so that was a huge turnoff. :-/ But now he's off being sweet at Sookie and so I think I can forgive him! Also, Jessica and Hoyt are THE SWEETEST THING EVER. If something bad happens to him, I will be most upset. :(

I haven't watched The Pacific yet! Just downloaded it this morning but have to wait til I'm done with lab to watch. D:

SO by the way, I met your friend Allana (I think that's how she spells it?)! She is, hilariously, working with my roommate in the Mi Hee Lim lab right now, and I've been hearing stories about her all the time, but I didn't realize she was YOUR friend! She was giving a poster with my roommate this weekend and she was like "by the way I know Monica!" and I was like lolol WHUT! It was kind of awesome. She seems really nice!

I'm still resisting the True Blood allure. IDK, I read the books they're based on, and I do not like Sookie or Bill. At all. For a variety of reasons. And the author brutalizes her repeatedly, emotionally, physically, and sexually. Pretty much the only thing I do like about the books is the fact that Eric is completely amoral and completely honest about it. I'm not even sure ASkars is enough inducement to overlook all the things I don't like about the books to watch the series. But I do enjoy seeing the stills from the set, and seeing that he's having such success. :)

I've never read any of the books, but you'll see in a comment above that someone said the novels are rather trashy relative to the show, and that there are significant differences. I can't say that Sookie is exactly treated well, but perhaps the delightful things would overcome some of your misgivings? I know for me that Eric and the members of the supporting cast I mentioned above more than make up for what Sookie and Bill lack as leads. I resisted for ages too, but here I am. :)

If you like the show, DO NOT read the books. Mostly I am annoyed by Sookie's ever-shifting attitude about her "gift", which she alternately views as a either useful or a disability. Pick one or the other, goddammit, and if you want to hang out with vampires b/c you're comfortable with them b/c you get no brainwaves from them, fine, but don't whine about how that sets you apart from other "normal" people when you MADE THAT CHOICE.

Ah, see, that whole issue you have right there is not anything I would ever pick on about the show. Sookie's mostly zen about her gift, and when she met Bill she was THRILLED that she couldn't hear his thoughts, but since then she hasn't made a big deal about it. She's considering it useful right now (where I am in the series) but has not whined about it being a burden in ages. In fact she met another telepath and he's all jumpy and ashamed about it and she's like "No we're awesome! Let's be awesome friends!" and I actually really enjoy her attitude about it.

I think I might be slightly in the minority in my general fondness for Sookie, but it sounds like she's probably better in the show than in the novels!

Please tell me the Maryann plot gets disposed of in the relatively near future? Because ugh, SO BORED. I literally go do other things while her bits are playing, haha. I'm not sure why it's so damn boring - it's not like Michelle Forbes is a terrible actress. It just all seems so irrelevant, and has involved all of the minor characters I just didn't care about as much. Poor form, show!

JESSICA AND HOYT. I hope you're using the past tense just because you watched the season in the past, not that they meet some horrible end! Haha. I adoooore them, partly because I want a boy to treat me JUST like that. He is such an unbelievable sweetheart <3333

It's weird because usually there's the inverse proportional rule about the quality of the show and the size/quality of a fandom, but not in this case. It's really frustrating since I've been lolling around in the fandom since S1 and I would like to read some damned fic, people!

HEEE! It is an AMAZING song, it's true! I've been listening to the album nonstop ever since it came out (mixed up with Gold Motel and Christian Kane) and the whole thing is just so fantastic. Hello Lover has to be my favorite, but Animal, Voodooized, Damn Things Over... hell, all of them are close behind! :D
