It's been a busy week, so I only just got around to watching episode 8 of The Pacific. I knew I needed the mental space and time to process it, so I couldn't just watch it any time I had a minute free.

My spoilery thoughts. )

I can't wait for this week's episode. Joe Mazzello said it and 7 duke it out for his favorite, so I bet it's gonna be a doozy.

Oh, by the way, I got a Tumblr! It's stupidly addicting and I don't know if I'll keep rolling around in it because it's an enormous distraction, but I'm over here at exsequar, of course. Largely Band of Brothers, Jacob Pitts, Justified, The Pacific, some Glee and Supernatural, plus random bits and bobs that please me. Only follow me if you want to, of course!

Firstly: Joe Mazzello and Martin McCann are the CUTEST. Joe posted an adorable photo of him and Martin in makeup, complete with adorable caption. I commented, and Martin replied, essentially confirming that they have the most adorablest bromance ever! See???

(That's the caption for the photo at the top.) HEE I AM SO CHARMED. They are such total sweethearts. I hope Martin gets more lines to say later on!

LET'S TALK ABOUT TELEVISION!

I was pining all day to watch Justified ep 6, and I finally got to! Oh the hearts in my eyes! )

And I finally watched The Pacific episode 6. How fucked are you now? )

I also watched half of Glee this morning. Very entertaining! Also: JGROFF. ♥

Today was awesome for a few reasons. I had lunch with Leah, the other first year who got into Jason's lab. We rotated together last summer, and she's such a sweetheart. That was nice. Then I had a meeting with JASON, yay! He officially signed my papers! I'm officially in the lab! I AM SO THRILLED, WHEE. We had a conversation (well, mostly he talked) about Science and plans for my THESIS PROJECT and where he sees it going in the near future and it was all very fascinating, but wow I need to get my head back in the game! I felt kind of like an idiot. BUT. He understands that I haven't been thinking about this for months, so. I'm going to take next week off, do a lot of reading, and then start on MAY THIRD! YAY!

However, bad news: he did not accept Francisco. Or anyone else, for that matter. I'm... yeah. We (Francisco and I) talked after my meeting with Jason and it was... awkward, and hard. He still hasn't totally decided he's going to Florida, but it's really not looking good. Ugh. :( Not thinking about it not thinking about it. I need to sit with him and have a beer and just talk, I really do.

In lighter news, TONIGHT I WENT SPEED DATING. Lolz. It was mostly hilarious. We only got to talk to like half of the dudes who were there, which kind of sucked because we got a whole slew of nerdy engineer guys who were mostly okay to talk to, but generally not all that attractive. And afterwards we could see all these hot guys wandering around who we didn't get to meet! Lame. There were a few intriguing dudes in there so I checked several yes boxes. We'll see if anything comes of it! *hands* Me and the roomies and our new friend Anna went out for drinks afterward and generally had an awesome girly evening, so it was a win overall. :) I love my roomies SO MUCH oh my goodness. We got so lucky to find each other. ♥

So this is a really long post, and uh, I'm gonna stop. Nighty night!

Hi LJ. It is 3 AM. My fingernails are bitten down to the quick. My final assignment for my class is ~done, or as done as it will be. I'm pretty tired. Castle 2x21 tonight was amazing. ESPOSITO OMG. BOYFRIENDS OMG. As this is all I have energy for as far as posting goes, I'm going to leave you with cute boys.

Seriously, their faces )

You're welcome. Thank you and goodnight. ♥

You know, it's really uncomfortable to have to sit through a verbal reaming that is not targeted at you. We have group meetings for our lab on Monday mornings, and today my boss decided she had several things to get off her chest, including rants about how her students never meet deadlines and how none of them have plans for publications and if they don't get publications they won't get their PhDs. It was all rather melodramatic - somewhat necessary, but I felt it could have been handled in a rather more measured fashion. Meanwhile, because I am but a rotation student and will be leaving within a month, I just sat there meekly and tried not to look at people. Awkward!

On the other hand, during this same meeting I met the eyes of the Hot Guy who works in the lab I think... 2 or 3 times across the table. He was looking at me! He's so pretty, you guys. He's got tattoos on every limb and wears Tool sweatshirts but is also a nerd. I am very fond. I may or may not work up the balls to ask him out for coffee when I leave the lab - we'll see.

Health care reform passed! Amazing! All the biggest stuff comes into effect in 2014, which is just about the time I'll be graduating with my PhD and therefore losing my grad care health insurance - A+ timing! But more than that, of course, I think this will actually do really good things for a lot of normal Americans. I'm very happy. I also wish that this would shock some sense into the Republican party - not a single one of them voted for this historic victory. The party is so petty, selfish, hateful, and vicious - and they don't see any of these things as a problem. I'm sad that we still have to deal with this legitimized fanaticism, but at least we squeaked something around their obstreperousness. (Yes, my "political" icon is Obama with a small child. Don't judge.)

Man, Mondays suck even more now that I have to spend the whole day bouncing and waiting until I can LEAVE and watch The Pacific! I watched about 15 minutes while I ate breakfast this morning, and ahahah - so not a good idea. I just love a little gore and death with my morning yogurt, don't you? :P

Lalala that's it! Science time!

I'm a little >:( facey at the world right now. Not for any real reason, just minor school stress. We have an exam on Thursday, which I haven't studied....um, at all for, and it's probably going to be really hard, and fml. Then I also am supposed to have something written for my group project by Thursday, buuuut idk if that's going to happen, given the aforementioned test. I should have done both things this Sunday, but I was like OMG A DAY OF REST THANK GOD and just watched True Blood and Life Unexpected. /o\

Speaking of True Blood, THAT HORRIBLY TRAGIC THING THAT YOU WERE ALL TRYING TO AVOID MENTIONING JUST HAPPENED and I am all ;___; and >:((( because HBO WHY YOU GOTTA PLAY ME LIKE THAT?

I just had a fun discussion about tattoos with my two Adorable Co-workers (one is a fellow grad student (I shall call him G), and really quite hot, and also funny and friendly and ugh stop being so cute! the other is the Cute Undergrad whose cheeks I always want to pinch - I shall call him M). G showed me and M the outline of his new tattoo that he just got all over his calf - it's a really cool design with all these things from ~SCIENCE~ all intertwined, like the DNA double helix, chromosomes, nucleosomes (the organizational substructure of DNA), all this really neat stuff in a very cool artsy way. It's completely nerdy and COMPLETELY AWESOME. M adorably asked me and G what the pain is like with a tattoo. I showed him mine ('think happy thoughts' on my ankle), which turned out to be a bad idea because ugh my skin is so dry and I haven't shaved in forever. /o\ But he was sweet about it.

It's nice having two cute boys around, you know? :D Yesterday, the first thing M asked me was "Did you see the Pacific?!" This is the boy who borrowed my Bill and Babe book and told me that he really likes Doc Roe's accent. SIGH TINY CHILD WHY SO TINY. :P He hasn't seen TP yet (can we call it that? typing out The Pacific every time is tiresome, but I don't want to call it toilet paper /o\) but he's real excited to, bless him.

Now I need to study. I woke up today feeling about as animated as a sack of rocks - combination of bed too late and somehow waking up in the wrong part of my cycle, PLUS daylight savings time. Means that it's going to be real hard to get work done today, which suuuucks. /o\ FML, seriously. Meh, I bring it on myself.

Happy Tuesday, ladies and gents. ♥

I sat down and watched the first episode of The Pacific tonight! Thoughts, with spoilers! )

Sookie: He's your maker, isn't he?
Eric: Don't use words you don't understand.
Sookie: You have a lot of love for him.
Eric: Don't use words I don't understand.

TRUE BLOOD, YOU GUYS. *______________♥

Yes, I know y'all have been going on about it for ages upon ages. I was an idiot, mea culpa, etc etc. But that's all behind us now because OMG ADDICTED. I'm on 2x08 and I only started watching season 1 two weeks ago. Amazing.

Right now, it's at a weird place where I really could not give a shit about half the storylines (Maryann, Daphne, Lorena, even Tara's pissing me off, and Sam is booooring), but the rest is all OMGOMGOMG EEEEE. I LOVE and cherish Eric (ASKARSSSSS), Lafayette, HOYT OMG HOYT, Jessica, Terry, and Arlene. I feel mostly pleasantly towards Sookie and Bill and Jason. It's an odd mix, but the EEEEE more than makes up for the bleh. ASKARS I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH. (Though I will say he's much hotter as Brad, without the red-rimmed eyes.)

SO. YES. TRUE BLOOD. Come make noises at me now that I've seen so much of it! I don't have a lot of intelligent thoughts or anything, since it's TOTALLY ON CRACK, but I had to make a post since it's devoured me starting with my bottom. :D

Ooh and I have a shiny new Band of Brothers mood theme! HI LUZ YER FACE. <3333 I also added interest icons for Generation Kill, True Blood, and White Collar to my LJ sidebar. I need to make a new header but I just didn't get around to it this weekend.

The Pacific started tonight! I didn't get to see it because I don't even have network TV, much less HBO, but I will be *cough* obtaining it soon! SO EXCITED.
