Just wasted two hours of my life watching the first part of the Drive premiere. Sorry guys, but I am so not on this bandwagon. It elicited no kind of emotional response from me - no sympathy for ANY of the characters (except perhaps Nathan... aw Nathan. *squishes him*), no laughter, no curiosity... I just don't care in the slightest. I think the fact that I HATE what competition does to people (one of the big reasons I don't watch reality shows, other than them... just sucking in general) has a large part to do with my complete lack of interest. In the preview for the Monday part, one person says "Money isn't everything!" and another person holds a gun on her and says "Yes. It. Is." And that exactly sums up why I'm not going to be watching this show.

Oh well.

It's a Winchester week! Woohoo! \o/

When I renewed my paid account and extra userpics, I got 6 more icon slots, bringing my total to 112. This is very exciting.

I very much want a silly Aeryn and/or John Farscape icon, but I can't seem to find one :( Can anyone point me in the direction of some?

Oh my god, Life. If you royally fuck over ANY MORE OF MY FRIENDS, then I am DONE WITH YOU. Holy shit. Back off, alright? All these wonderful, kind, amazing people subjected to tragedies, day after day. It's overwhelming. And I feel helpless, knowing I can do nothing for these people that I love.

I believe other people have said this before me, but 2007? YOU LOSE.

HOW ARE YOU ALL SO FUCKING AMAZING???

I generally find love memes too LARGE to navigate, but some very kind soul put together an index for the current one, and so I went to look...

I AM IN TEARS. Full on, sobbing, wracking tears. I just. WHAT. You guys! You have COMPLETELY overwhelmed me. You don't understand. I have made big strides recently, but I have ALWAYS been insecure and unsure and there's always tons of self-doubt and loathing and sometimes I get to very dark places. But finding you has changed that, so completely. And you go and DROWN ME with your amazingness and I can't do anything but flap my hands and cry and try to articulate how much you MEAN to me. You make me proud to be who I AM, truly and really, and not just some toned down politically correct version of myself. I think my favorite descriptor used is "unabashedly loves the gay"! *laughs* Because it's very true, and you all GET that, and so much more. So, so much more. I... I can't find words to thank you, but thank you. From the very bottom of my heart. I love you all.

Those troublemaking twosomes!

*squees* YAY!! New layout!!! New layouts always make me so excited :D You may remember I said a little while back I was going to switch to an SGA header - well, I never got around to it, and eventually I decided I didn't want to do THAT, so instead I made my first mixed-fandom header! \o/ It features McShep and the Winchester boys, and they are AWFULLY pretty together. Yay new friend!

I have a *completely* awesomesauce new friend - everyone say hi to Holly, aka

shinetastic! She's pretty new to LJ, and stumbled across my journal and decided to friend me ~~because I am fabulous~~ because I ramble a lot about Supernatural ;) So, she's a full on SPN fan, being completely caught up and eager for Thursday's episode, but she wasn't really in the fandom - hoo boy, did I fix that! I spent four hours last night talking to her and giving her links and telling her who the best authors were and explaining what "RPS" is and showing her interviews and the DAY IN THE LIFE. She hasn't read ONE piece of fic in the fandom yet, so I was like O.O Blank SLATE, how FUN!!! I had to choose what she should read first, and I settled on Every Broken Thing - I think everyone can agree this is a good choice, no? - but damn, it was hard. We have SO MUCH GOOD FIC, guys! I'm almost jealous of her, with all that gloriousness in front of her! *g* And I think she's going to come to the June Wincon, which, SWEET!

A Year of Supernatural - Told in Numbers

So exactly one year ago today, I curled up on my bed with my laptop and watched the pilot of a certain show called Supernatural. My reaction? "Wow. Wowwwwww. Wow!" In the ensuing year, I have been entirely swept up by the Winchester brothers, right along with many other fangirls, and much has happened and been created as a result! I thought to commemorate this anniversary I'd do a numerical walk down memory lane. Let us begin with...

31 episodes aired - from Pilot to Croatoan, Home to Devil's Trap, Nightmare to Bloodlust, so many chapters in the lives of the Winchester brothers have been given to us. And boy have they grown. Compare the uneasy tension of much of the pilot to the perfect teamwork and connection of Croatoan - they've certainly come a long way. And we've loved (almost) every second of it.

Stupid holiday sales! :P) and they have seasons 1-3 of Gilmore Girls on sale for 23 bucks! \o/ JAAAAAYRED. I dont really want to get s1 because i've seen most of it, and I want to see some of Jess's storyline because I haven't really. I've also seen a lot of S2 but not as much, I don't think. Is S3 worth getting, or have Dean and Rory completely gone to shit by then? Basically I want lots of Jared, and not too much jealous!Dean. Advice, people!

In other news, I have LESS THAN TEN POSTS until I hit ONE THOUSAND. What should I do to celebrate??

I DID IT!!

I changed my name!! *twirls and poses and generally shows off* Isn't it PREEEETTY? *beams* Now, before ya'll go "but that's not exsequor!" I realized when I actually tried to change it that THAT NAME WAS TAKEN *headdesk* I swear, I had checked potential names before, and I assumed I checked that one, but apparently not! So I asked my Latin major friend about how to conjugate it to say "I will follow you to the grave", and that was exsequar te, but I didn't like the te, so I went with this! Now I am, as

So I was pondering about why, of all my OTPs, Sam and Dean stand head and shoulders above the rest. Especially in light of Croatoan.

wendy bought me a rename token, and I need to make up my mind on how to use it! I have two choices right now. The first is "taivaallinen," which means "heavenly" in Finnish and is just something I found while poking around dictionaries and such. I think it's an absolutely gorgeous word. The other is "exsequor," which is Latin for "to follow to the grave," and basically after Croatoan (see everything I just rambled about!) it feels ridiculously appropriate for Sam and Dean, and I kinda vaguely want my name to be a tribute to them.

So! Help me decide!

So flist. Is there anyone out there who knows Latin pretty well? Well enough to translate a simple phrase?

This is why I need it. A little while ago, I was looking in a Latin glossary for possible words to use as a new LJ name. I stumbled on this one: exsequor. Do you know what it means? "to follow to the grave". YEP. Basically it's Dean and Sam in a nutshell. An awesomesauce nutshell.

So I might use just exsequor as the name, but I would like to see how this looks in Latin: "I will follow you to the grave". I've tried researching Latin conjugations, but dude that stuff is CRAZYCAKES o.O The closest I could come up with was "te exsequar" but I have no idea how accurate that is, and it isn't super pretty anyway. Does anyone know of a more elegant way of working that out? Thanks in advance! ♥

I survived my test and I felt reasonably confident with almost the entire thing! Except for the last problem, but that was only four points out of 250, and a couple parts of other bigger problems. But yes, I was never like O.O OMG WHAT DO I DOOO. So that's done with and finished and... of course I have my orgo final in a week. BLEH :P

I also got my final take home essay question for my Modern Lit class, and hmmmmm. It's definitely something I'm gonna have to sit and ponder, and it's also gonna be complex because I have to incorporate 6 different works from the semester. But I can do it! \o/

In other news, the holiday LJ layout is SHINY! The pretty stars and the swirl of colors in the middle and the pencil in lights and the wreath and moon! N'aww! So pretty :D

I'm chillin out in the library computer work room (because my computer HATES Word and Excel and Powerpoint, and I need to use those extensively for my bio lab) and listening to Serenity, the first ep of Firefly, and it makes me happy :D I love my iPeanut! *cuddles it to chest* OH SIMON TAM MY LOVE FOR YOU KNOWS EXACTLY NO BOUNDS. NONE. "So when I tell you my sister makes me look like an idiot child, I want you to appreciate my full meaning." Ohhhh, TAMS. Almost as close to my heart as the Winchesters.

Okay off to actually accomplish something :P

NEW LAYOUT!

I got tired of my smoky days layout pretty quickly... probably cause there were no pretty faces to admire :P So I remedied that! I really wanted to use that shot of Dean with the gun from Bloodlust, so that kinda determined the whole theme. I just had to use the images of the boys from the Croatoan promo - so awesome. (Not spoilery, unless you don't want to know that the boys hold guns in the next ep! *laughs*) I love the bullet hole graphic that I found. And I just couldn't resist the chance to use Kane lyrics on my header! *twirls* The new color scheme is a bit dark, but ah well. PRETTY! Yay! I also changed my comment links and journal titles :) Whee!

I just went down to the prefect of my house to ask for some funding for an Oxfam event, and he was like "Oh I always hear about you, everyone's always talking about you, it's so great to finally get to sit down and talk with you!" and I was like Huh! That's so weird, and nice and flattering to hear, to be honest. People would say things like that back in high school, but that place was tiny. Very cool - nice little perk up on this crazy day :)

I always have things to post about and then forget when I actually go to post! Sigh.

I saw a kid with a Livejournal sweatshirt on today. I giggled.

Had my first test of the semester this morning, in bio. It wasn't very hard, but it was way too much to do in 50 minutes. I am a FAST test taker and I went over by a couple minutes - I can't imagine what other people did. And I wrote so fast, my hand was all cramped at the end. I think I did well though.

Ummm, I have class in 9 minutes so I am off. In conclusion,
