You guys, I love my baby band. *______*

(Background: Drive A are a new band out of LA, and I've been listening to them nonstop for 2 months. I've also been following Jason Nott, the guitarist, on Twitter and we've chatted a couple times.)

How Drive A stole my heart! )

Let me introduce you to Drive A!

Left to right: Taylor who always makes ridic faces in photos, Jason looking at the wrong camera <3333, Cody being GORGEOUS, and Bruno being too cool to smile. UGH I LOVE THEMMMM. Also, you can see that my purse was falling off my shoulder, and JASON HELD IT UP. HEEE WHAT. The hearts in my eyes are truly enormous.

As for video evidence of their awesome, well, the Fillmore is a DICK because it has a STILL PHOTOS ONLY POLICY, what the shit is that. I recorded 3 minutes of the first song before I got shut down. :( :( :( But it's a good video, and you can see them rocking out and being fucking badasses and I love them. ♥___♥

I know some other band might have played, maybe, you know, The Used or some little band like that, but I'll post about that later. :) I just wanted to flail about my new baby band, whom I adore WITH ALL OF MY LITTLE HEART. Suffice to say I had a fucking awesome time, and it was so cool to have [livejournal.com profile] candidlily and [livejournal.com profile] angel726 with me, and I am a happy happy camper. :D

Oh and LISTEN TO DRIVE A!!!! Their album is only $7 on iTunes! myspace.com/drivea and youtube.com/drivearocks ! GO GO GO! :D

I love being a fan of a band so tiny that when you fling a Tweet at the guitarist, he actually replies half an hour later! He's only got 331 followers! He's tiny and precious and I heart him a LOT. This is Jason Nott of Drive A, by the way. I seriously can't wait to see them live when they open for The Used. I'm going to be that crazy person who loves the opening band and sings her heart out when no one else knows what the hell is going on. :D But seriously, I LOVE THIS FUCKING ALBUM. I've played it >40 times in the last month! Ridiculous.

I am addicted to Twitter by the way. It's kind of a problem. But also a lot of fun!

My life has really leveled out, socially. I had that exciting honeymoon period where everyone was new! And shiny! And lovely! And now it's fallen out to the people that I'm actually going to stay friends with, and they're cool, but lack the shine of New Friends. You know? The boy situation has also cooled dramatically - I need a method to meet new ones, WITHOUT my roommates in tow, because I like them but wow are they awkward in social situations. A couple of them, anyway. Sigh.

This week is going to be SO AWESOME. Tomorrow: EMPIRES!!!!!!! Today they were on Kent University's radio station, being adorable giggly boys, and they answered a couple questions that I IMed in, haha. Sean and Max (and Tom?) did Spit the Dark and I Want Blood and they sounded amazing. I can't wait to see them again, yay! And then Friday, THE ACADEMY IS!!!!!! Bill Beckett, YER FACE! I can't waaaait. Both of these shows are with [livejournal.com profile] angel726, which is super awesome because she's my girl. ♥ Then Saturday night it's Grizzly Bear, but at least that's here in town. It's gonna be a musicky week! It's also hopefully going to be a sciencey week, since I started some experiments today that should yield exciting results over the next few days. :D (Or discouraging results? We'll see!)

I'm totally hiding in my room, which is kind of shitty but. Whatever. I don't feel like being social.

I ran a mile almost without stopping today! In ten minutes! Obviously not that great, but it's a huge improvement for me. I even ran a good portion of the mile on the way back too. Noticeable progress, yay!

I've been working my way through my Watchmen Director's Cut DVD. I sat down intending to just watch parts, but I never want to skip anything (except Nixon being a HUGE DOUCHNOZZLE with a ludicrously fake nose, lolz) so I've just been watching the whole thing. I realized that I know the movie so well that I completely notice even when there's just one line added to a scene. I REALLY like the extended first Watchmen meeting scene. Some adorable Daniel/Rorschach stuff there, and more of the Comedian being a hot asshole. Yum JDM, freaking yum. I also think Laurie's a stronger character with the stuff they've added. I just wish they added more Adrian stuff. :(

I've really got the itch to vid this movie. I've been wanting to vid for a while, but there isn't a source I'm particularly driven by. When I vid, I need to know the source intimately, scene by scene, shot by shot, so I can vid it mentally and then go find the pieces. That was totally true of Supernatural S2 and Buffy's Faith storyline, but there's no canon I know so well now. But Watchmen I definitely do, and a movie's totally manageable, AND it's incredibly visual and simply fraught with themes, so it's a great candidate. I'm going through my iTunes library for inspiration - it's a bit tough going. If you've got any ideas, let me know!

So after my brief love affair with the idea of getting a new Camaro, I have come to my senses (reluctantly) and chosen a much more practical and reasonable choice that's still a hell of a lot of fun. I present to you: the 2010 Mazda 3s Sport!

The new design is completely sexy and sleek and fun. And all the reviews say that the 3 is a joy to drive, that being a main goal of Mazda's designers. Great handling, a sporty get up and go engine with decent hp, improved aerodynamics. But it's also a sedan, so there's good seating and cargo room. It's a good balance for me. 95% of the time, my driving is just me, so having a station wagon feels so silly. This seems like an adorable and fun little car for zipping around by myself, but flexible enough to be used in other ways too. And it's completely affordable! The base model is only $15k, but the one I've got my eye on, the sportier model, runs about $19.5k.

Basically, I waaaaants! :D I'm planning on going to a local dealer and test driving it soon to make sure I really like it. Hopefully I'll be able to buy it in about a year or so!

I am SO GIDDY about getting to choose a car for myself, you guys. Soooo giddy. *beams*

OH! Super fun thing! Remember that band I've been rambling about, Drive A? (I still love the album! It's great running music too.) Well, I Tweeted the guitarist to say I love their album and can't wait to see them, and he replied! So I replied, and he replied again! Totally innocuous conversation, but it still made me giddy, hee. This is what he said:

&hisface;! I hope I get to meet them after the concert!

I have been so spammy lately. I'm sorry. :(

Um, HELLO NEW BOYFRIENDS.

Someone made a post on [livejournal.com profile] theused about this band that's opening for The Used on their tour, so I checked them out and HI I'M IN LOVE. They're called Drive A and they're young punk rockers from LA and their music is aaaawesome. I already bought their debut on iTunes (it's $6.99! Go! Buy!) and I'm only halfway through but I can tell I'm going to have this album on repeat a LOT! It's the best kind of fast, crunchy guitar rock with reasonably melodic vocal lines. And the guys are super cute, which never ever hurts! I'm REALLY excited to see them open for The Used in Detroit now. :DDDDD You should all check them out too! Yay baby rockers!!
