Merlin Rec!

Sometimes I Forget I'm Still Awake by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch, Arthur/Gwen, PG, 4000 words, big spoilers for 1x12
An absolutely gorgeous, quiet little story about Gwen and her sadness, her complicated fondness for Arthur, and his complicated fondness in return. I can't say more because of spoilers, but if you've seen 1x12 you know what this is about. And it's beautiful. There are some lovely Merlin and Morgana moments as well. Just a wonderful story, and I hope the show does as much justice by Arthur and Gwen.

And now, The Hot People Meme! Basically an excuse to picspam prettiness. Who am I to say no? Going with the random sixteen number because 10 just isn't enough! :) I imposed a strict 5 pictures per person rule or else this would have taken me HOURS. (ETA: Okay, so it took hours anyway. WHOOPS. Pleeeease take a look? Haha.)

Come see the pretty! Something for everyone, I promise. )

Wow, I... essentially wasted most of the afternoon on that. *FACEPALM* Ummm at least it's very pretty? Sigh.

It's been snowing allll day, it's quite lovely but keeping me from going and doing a couple errands. Classes start tomorrow and it'll be nice to have something to do. So in the meantime I'm basically just being a blob!

Lalala.

*squeaky noises* Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are doing another movie together!!! I ACTUALLY just made squeaky noises because HOMG, you know? *flaps hands* Titanic was the first thing that I ever remember my fannish personality emerging for. Ugh, my heart will go on and on for Jack and Rose. I still cry when I watch it, stfu. They're gonna be in a movie called Revolutionary Road, which EW.com describes as "a decidedly unsentimental portrait of a marriage." Mmmmm, juicy! They're both so ridiculously talented, I can't waaaait.

Other movies I MUST see: Burn After Reading (the new Coen brothers film with BRAD AND GEORGE homg), Rachel Getting Married (whispers about Anne Hathaway heading for Oscardom? I am so there!), and of course the new Bond and Harry Potter. Yay movies!

Today in a short list of bulletpoints, because saying "in other news" gets tiresome fast:
  • We have water in our hallway, AGAIN. The carpet is soaked halfway across, and it looks like it's coming from our neighbors again. Last time their toilet flooded. And they're not home to ask. Blah, here come the carpet cleaners with their hoses and the large fan they leave here for a few days >.<
  • My chemistry went pretty well!
  • I talked to my daddy on the phone. Always lovely, except today he revealed that he has a cancerous growth on his forehead O.O I swear I felt my heart plummet into my stomach, or something. It was not pleasant. But apparently the doctor wasn't alarmed, and he's just going to have minor surgery to have it removed. His mother had the same thing and she was fine. Still, not the most wonderful of news D: Daaaaddy.
  • I am about to make an awesome dinner for myself. Om nom.

The end.

ETA: HOW DID I NOT KNOW THE USED HAD AN ENTIRE ALBUM OF B-SIDES???? Asdlksdjlfsd must. own. NOW. Does anyone have it?? I might actually resort to buying it! :O THANKS [livejournal.com profile] clayeer!!! *ROCKS OUT NOMG*

I just finished watching the movie "Sleepers," which is wonderful! It's about four boys growing up in Hell's Kitchen (Manhattan) together. They accidentally hurt a man and get sent to a juvenile reform school for boys. There they are abused terribly. Flash forward several years, and two of the boys run into one of the guards from the school, unearthing their painful past and setting in motion a plan for revenge.

It feels like two separate movies - it was even split in two, one half on each side of the disc - because you have the four young boys (aged about 10) and then you have these four gorgeous young men, one of whom is played by Brad Pitt (!!!) and all of whom are very, very pretty *g* I fully enjoyed both halves for different reasons. The friendship between the four is a very strong thread that ties the entire thing together. The sense that these were four good boys who were irrevocably altered and damaged by their experiences was very strong and poignant. All the performances were very good, particularly Robert De Niro, Jason Patric, and of course Brad. Brad looked all young and fresh faced, though I couldn't quite shake the images of Louis from Interview With the Vampire, because he was very pale here, with large blue eyes, full flushed lips, and a vein actually visible in his cheek. Mmph. I loved the ending, with the four young men reunited and happy one more time, and including the line from their friend Carol, "What is this, a gay bar?" ♥♥ Awesome. And very bittersweet, though I don't want to give anything away.

Amusing fact - Jonathan Tucker, Tommy from The Black Donnellys, plays one of the young boys and looks about 8 years old. He's tiny and pale and freckly and adorable!

In conclusion, see this movie! It's quite good. Thanks for reccing it to me Neb!
