I've been meaning to do this for weeeeeks, but I finally got off my ass and did it.

I've wanted an MCR header for ages. I loved my Panic! one, but it's been pretty clear that MCR is first in my heart for a while now. I just didn't know what picture! But in the end it inevitably came down to this one, my favorite MCR picture for a few reasons. 1) They are all (except Bob) in the asymmetrical zip-up Jacket of Joy, which is my favorite bandom piece of clothing ever (no I don't know why!) and I always squee when I see Mikeyway in it (and occasionally Frank). So when I found out that they all wore it? WELL. <33333 2) The sunglasses! SUCH COOL KIDS. 3) They're not looking at the camera, which I love. It feels a bit more natural. 4) Frankie's Skeleton Crew t-shirt ♥ 5) The coloring and composition. The sky broad and blue above them, the vivid buildings behind them. 6) IT'S THEM. <3333

I still love my layout though, so this is literally just slapping a new header on top. The coloring happily works out so that I can even leave the light blue, which I love.

Lyrics are from "Thank You for the Venom," obviously, which I have been incredibly addicted to lately.

While I was in conversation with iamsupernova in the comments for the weemo_closet hottest bandboy poll (TEAM IERO!), the subject of shirtless Frankie was raised. In going through my collection, I found a ridiculous dearth of images of this phenomenon (seriously, MCR is like a band of freaking nuns - take them clothes off sometimes, boys! ...please?) but I did find several tantalizing pictures of Frankie's HIPS making a bid for freedom between his shirt and pants. So, a minispam!

Re: LJ going batshit again. Um. I'm staying right here, guys. I don't see the point of getting some random new journals that I'll never use. What they're doing sucks, yes, but at the same time... I saw the piece of art that got the first person TOSed. It's rather vile, in my opinion. I love some of her other art, but that I just cannot get behind. And I personally have nothing to worry about, and I really don't think any of my friends do either, so, um. Self centered? Perhaps. I've just got too many other things to worry about.

So my journal has been waylaid by bandslash this week, but that's mostly because I am desperately using it as my HAPPY PLACE since.... duh duh duhhhh.... today is poster session day!

MEEP.

So here's the thing. There's about, oh, 25 students doing summer chemistry projects, and today they're all going to be presenting posters on their work. They'll be up in the hallway (mine's already up \o/) and fellow students and chemistry professors are going to be wandering around for an hour, reading posters and asking questions.

That's right. Professors.

For the most part this is okay. Most of the chem professors are very sweet ladies and gents, and I'm sure they'll just be curious and asking questions I can answer just with my experience this summer.

BUT THEN THERE'S DR. MEHL.

So Dr. Mehl. He's youngish (about 30?), very hot, and terrifying. No really. He's kind of an arrogant bastard, absolutely brilliant, and whenever he talks to you he gets that nice hint of condescension in his voice that makes you want to grovel and say YES I AM JUST A STUPID UNDERGRAD, FORGIVE ME MY SINS. I actually asked my professor if we should be nervous about today, and he was like "No no it will be fine! They won't grill you! Well, Dr. Mehl may try to test you on your background knowledge, but THE REST WILL BE FINE." And I was like O.O Can I plz hide under a rock??? *hides face*

So yes. I'm very much scared of him. Hopefully he'll just give my poster a bored cursory look and wander away, but I'm afraid that's too much to wish for. My stomach's starting to do that flippy floppy nervous thing (though that might partially be the coffee... it does funny things to my tummy) and and um. *hides under a rock*

Oh the PLUS side, my poster is totally the prettiest Thai boy in the brothel. I put all my graphic design skillz to use and made it very clean and aesthetically pleasing, and I think it contains a good deal more information than the other posters I've seen. I'm very proud of it and hope I will not be crushed by the scary Dr. Mehl!

Things Wot I Less Than Love

• Working on my presentation/paper for my summer project. I think I'm *finally* making progress, but it's still a wee bit like pulling teeth. On the bright side, my skillz in Photoshop are serving me well to make my Powerpoint super pretty.
  
• The fact that I have to leave in 2.5 weeks :( I've really gotten comfortable living here on my own, with Awesome Roomie and independence and all that wonderful stuff. I do miss my family, but. It seems like the summer's simply flown by.
  
• No Dave at work today! Everything was very slow and boring and quiet without him.

Lalala pointless LJ post! I don't know why y'all stick around, honestly. Much less why more people keep friending me! It baffles, for serious. Which, by the way, hello new people! Don't be afraid to pop in and say hi, I don't bite!

Friday Night Lights just keeps getting better and better! I don't want it to end! I just watched 1x18, and all I can say is - Tim Riggins + little boy = OVARIES GO SPLODEY *beams*

So the SPN DVDs come out on Sept 11th. Am I the only person facepalming about this? >.< I mean, the DVD release date is always much anticipated by me, but I don't want to be sitting here bouncing up and down going "Is it September 11th yet is it is it?" That's just... I don't know, tasteless or disrespectful or something. Meh.

And then... WEDDING WARS! *laughs* In case you didn't know, this is a silly new A&E movie about a man who hires his gay brother as his wedding planner, but when the gay brother finds out the bride's father (the governor of Maine) is against gay marriage, he goes on strike. It's silly and over the top and stereotyped and so goofy, but... BUT! IT'S GOT SEAN MAHER AND JOHN STAMOS BEING THE CUTEST BOYFRIENDS EVER!!! They KISS and HUG and declare their LOVE and SLOW DANCE and catch the BOUQUET and *squirms* SO ADORABLE. I want to have Sean Maher's babies, for serious, because he is the most adorkable, sweet guy EVER. Ya'll know I LOVE Simon, so I wasn't expecting anything different, but !!!!! I love him SO SO much. It was totally worth it for the two of them being crazy adorable. I also love John Stamos from Full House, and I always thought he was crazy hot, and he SINGS in this movie! Eeeeee! What a fun movie *grins* And here's a picture to make you smile!



I also just rewatched the majority of Bloodlust and *flail* my love for that episode knows NO BOUNDS. I seriously think it's my favorite of the entire series thus far. Uhm, hence my 90+ item list of reasons why I love it \o/ (Oh, and! Since I'm watching on TiVo, the promo for CSPWDT just came up, and I forgot how they had the shot of them by the car and the voice over goes "True love..." HEE! *clappyhands*)

I was GOING to talk about my evening, but then I saw ( THIS, and I lost all focus. Oh, BOYS! )

*ahem* Yes, anyway. So tonight I went out to a house party for Fei and Sara and Shachar's birthday (all within this week) and then a frat party. The house party was lots of fun, just dancing in a small packed room. There was goofy dancing involved and I got to be the middle in a Rob and Liz sandwich \o/ Then I followed Liz to a frat party, and that was... gross, lol. But since it's Halloween there were some funny and hot costumes - for example, there were three cowboys, and two of them were stunningly gorgeous with white shirts halfway unbuttoned, and the third had really really pretty freckles and eyes and a nose that reminded me of Jensen. Nngh. Of course all the girls were dressed up as sluts. Well not all obviously - Liz was looking smashing as Bonnie of Bonnie and Clyde (Rob was the other half), and Cat was adorable as Waldina (aka the female Where's Waldo). We didn't stay there too long, and the walk home was fun. So all in all an enjoyable night.
