Eeeee! *jumps up and down*

I just got an email telling me I've been awarded the Cellular Biotechnology Training Grant that I applied for a few weeks ago! :DDDDD Yaaaaay! I totally didn't expect this. It's quite competitive, with only a handful of spots for all the grad students here at Michigan, and I got one! It covers full tuition and most of my stipend for at least 2 years and most likely 3.

This is such a huge relief. I feel suddenly like Jason made the right decision when he chose me for his lab, and I'm so glad that I have relieved a big financial burden from his shoulders! It also means that I don't have to write any more grant applications, YAY. \o/ And it's an awesome thing to put on my CV - the money for this comes directly from the NIH, which is obviously quite prestigious.

Oh I am so happy!!! *giddy twirls*

My heart is seriously racing right now. I'M ALMOST THERE!

Man, it's such a good thing this semester is academically light for me, because I've now got FOUR very large trips coming up. Seattle, San Francisco, Ann Arbor, and Salt Lake City (for the American Chemical Society conference, I'm presenting a poster). Considering I've never been west of the Mississippi, that's pretty insane! But it's going to be wonderful, I know it! And they're all paid for, hee :D

I've been accepted to the University of Michigan Chemical Biology doctorate program!!!!!

I applied THREE DAYS ago. THREE DAYS. I literally sent it in Saturday night. The woman who called me said this in her email:

"It was great talking to you on the phone. As I mentioned during our conversation, the committee was so impressed by your application that we are ACCEPTING you in our program.

*BEAMTWIRLS* Now UM's going to pay to fly me out and put me up for a weekend in March so I can meet all the professors and students and look at the school.

Like. WHAT???? YAY!

ETA: I have ALSO received an invitation from University of Washington to come visit in February! They defer their final decision until after you visit and they assess your fit with the program. I repeat: YAY!!!!

Now I'm just waiting on San Francisco!

Oh, important news! My mom got a promotion, so she's going to get a new car because she needs to travel more, and she's going to finish paying for her current car in 6 months, so instead of selling it she's going to give it to MEEE! It's a white Subaru Legacy station wagon, which, while not exactly a pimpin ride, is still a CAR, a functioning car, and it will be MIIIIINE. Uhm, once I get my license, of course :P But yes! This is exciting news! *twirls*
