one more miracle

So I just had the most marvelous afternoon. I went out to lunch with my high school friend Andrew. Bit of background: we were best friends freshman year, then he left my school, but we stayed in touch and he ended up being my senior prom date. I've had an enormous crush on him all the time I've known him. I asked him out once, but he said he could only see us as friends.

Anyway, so we had lunch together and talked about movies and the World Cup and books. It was so much fun. Apparently I've turned him on to all of the books that he loves! Guy Gavriel Kay is his new favorite author (as he's mine!) and I've been responsible for getting him into Wheel of Time and George R. R. Martin as well. Clearly I rock. It's now his mission to find a great author that I haven't heard of *grins* Then he told me about how he went to a New York vs Barcelona soccer game last night!! I'm so jealous, it sounded like SO much fun. Eeeee. And he rooted for Germany during the World Cup too! \o/ ETA: I forgot to mention, he also picked up the tab for lunch! What a sweetheart!

Oh and I left out the most important thing - he is so fucking gorgeous. No really. I didn't think it was possible for him to get hotter. BUT HE GREW HIS HAIR OUT. OMG. I LOVE LONG HAIR ON GUYS. And it's orgasmically BEAUTIFUL on him, seriously. Just brushing his shoulders - not girly long, but boy long, you know what I mean? I had to catch my breath when I saw him, and then he was hugging me and he's so *muscled* and nnnngh. What a treat.

I feel so lucky to still be in touch with him. He only talks to like 2 people from my high school (the one he was at for just one year) and I'm one of them! It's been four years and we still talk and it's just so wonderful. I hope I never lose contact with him. He makes me happy. (And also makes me desperately want a boyfriend as awesome as him. Preferably a clone of his, please.)

So yes, I am giddy :)

*prods idly at flist* Why are you so QUIET? Just cause it's a gorgeous summer day and you're all outside enjoying yourselves? NOT ON I SAY! I'm stuck here working on my final presentation for my internship. Le sigh. 24 Powerpoint slides, including 18 graphs, and I'm getting close to being done, but I still have to write the Results and Discussion and Abstract for my report. Bleurgh.

Man, I can't believe it's almost over! The summer has whooshed by, as they always do! But this time I really don't mind. I've had a great time here, both with the internship and staying with Meg and Jeff. It's been a lovely change of pace and scenery. But I'm ready to go home and see my Daddy in particular, and have my birthday, and then finally get back to school and my GIRLS. I miss them dearly.

( Some random thoughts on Faith (the SPN episode) )

I signed up to do a transcript of Salvation and I've gotten started. I've finished up through John's "This ends. Now. I'm ending it." speech. It's actually lots of fun! And I'm looking forward to being really familiar with this episode - there are so many parts of it I love, but it's one of the ones that, for some reason, I haven't watched many times in full. (Though of course I've seen the WALLSLAMMING 80 trillion times). So, yay for that.

I'm going to my aunt and uncle's in Detroit for the weekend, so I won't be updating or commenting. Lucky for me my flist should be RELATIVELY quiet, since so many people are going to Comic Con or Writercon. (Ha, famous last words - it's still gonna be a bitch to catch up). So have a great weekend everybody! *hugs*

So I went to fireworks tonight. It was cold and we were far away, so, not the greatest view. But Hazel is an adorable spazoid. That's pretty much what the evening came down to, lol. And we didn't have to deal with nutso traffic, so that was good.

As I was watching the fireworks I wondered what Sam and Dean would do on the fourth. (...shut up) And this scenario came into my head where they'd be driving cross country at twilight and Sam would see a fireworks show start up in the distance and he'd ask Dean to stop and Dean would give him this "are you fucking kidding me?" look and Sam would turn on the puppy dog eyes and Dean would sigh heavily and stop by a field and they'd get out and sit on the grass and pull out some beer (which Sam bought because he's a think-ahead kind of guy) and get pleasantly buzzed and shoot the breeze as the lights and smoke dappled the sky above them.

Oh boys. :)

Five milligrams of endothelin-1 - $1300

I was going to make this a whole mastercard thing, but I can think of nothing priceless related to that. But just look at that number! If you're wondering what endothelin-1 is, it's the hormone I've been treating the blood vessels with at work. And 5 mg is not much at ALL. It's a TINY amount. And it's THIRTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!! (!!!) Absolutely INSANE. And apparently I've been using it at way too high of a rate, for reasons too complicated to fully explain - but it really wasn't my fault, that's what my professor told me to do! So I'm trying to cling to that instead of self-flagellating ruthlessly, as I am wont to do. Oy.

Today was a really crappy day. That was kind of the reason, but I was also feeling vaguely sicky, and my mood was negative and bitter ALL day. After dinner I just had to go out for a run to clear my head. I ran hard, harder than I had been, and it hurt but it also felt good. I'm not feeling so omgtheworldsuckseveryoneshouldDIE anymore, which is good.

Tigana continues to absolutely blow my mind. No one's died yet, though there have been two CLOSE calls, so I'm really nervous about who's gonna bite it. Because SOMEONE has to - Kay's books always leave me in tears, and besides, there's a war just starting. So. UH OH. *chews fingernails*

I watched Ariel with Meg tonight. Simon is so much love omg. I fall more for that man every time I see an episode of Firefly. Oh SIMON. Competence is so fucking sexy. "Your patient should be dead." And then the LOOK he gives that incompetent idiot, sdljfhasdkfjhsad. Makes me want to jump his bones. Um. Not that I don't want to ALL THE TIME. *ahem*

.....ASDFKJHADFKJHDKHASDKDJ!!!!! *POINTS AND FLAILS* OMGOMGOMG!!!! I just went to IMDB to see what Sean Maher's got on his plate (the answer is a big fat NOTHING, unfortunately) and THIS WAS HIS PICTURE!!! *STARES AND STARES AND STARES* Wow. Just. WOW. I hadn't SEEN that one before!! (How is that possible???)
