So I should probably do some work and/or eat some food today, but the internet has just been TOO AWESOME! Also, it is raining and gray, which always fails to motivate me.

  1. PANIC BABIES AND THEIR FACES.

I just. WHAT. THEY MADE IT THEMSELVES!!! With the dancing and the FURRY and the clapping and the lipstick and the giggles and the falling over and the DANCING. I don't even know what to DO with them! UGH BOYS HEARTS. I get to see them in a WEEK omg!!!!! Possibly on barrier in a massive arena, during which I might DIE, but it will be a happy death indeed! :D
  2. Fall Out Boys nomg! America's fucking Suitehearts! It's SO GOOD. All loud and catchy with the most delicious guitar riffs, but slow and beautiful too, and NOM NOM NOM. It's the kind of song that makes me dance around my room ridiculously and play air guitar, then switch to hairbrush microphone for the beautiful verses. <333333
  3. Also, Guy Ripley on the set of I Don't Care! I LOLED. My favorite part is Ryland and Gabe reenacting the "Charlie bit me!!!" video, which me and my Dublin girls LOVE RIDICULOUSLY, so I appreciated that shout out :D
  4. I skipped over to The Used's Myspace to see if there was any stuff from their new album, and they had a link to a teaser, but the LINK DIDN'T WORK D: However, it did take me to a video director's website, where I found the video for Against Me!'s "Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart", which is definitely my favorite song off the album New Wave. I didn't know who the female guest vocalist was, but it's Tegan or Sara! It's a beautiful vid, and I have gained a new appreciation for the very attractive Against Me! lead singer :D (Note to self: find out his name!)
  5. Saturday's a slow day in politics, but the headline at Huffington is about how the Republicans and particularly the McCain camp are completely divided over Palin. Methinks you can't win an election if half of the campaign staff doesn't support the other half of the ticket. JUST SAYIN'. Meanwhile, at 538, Sean continues to abscond with my heart over and over. Today he wrote up a bit on North Dakota and why it's so ridiculously tight for the first time in, well, ever. ♥ NINE DAYS!!
  6. Being back in love with Supernatural is KIND OF AWESOME. The past two episodes have been exercises in fantastic lolarity. And I must say - Jensen Ackles is a fucking REVELATION. He bounces between heartwrenching drama and gutbusting humor with such astonishing ease. His little wide-eyed scared face is kind of my favorite thing ever ever <333 The new promo shots are also making me happy (inmypants) - the original post with the HQ seems to have been locked, but UGH LOOK AT THEM. With the cheekbones and the forearms and the eyes and the body language and I just. OM NOM NOM. (They live together!!! *expires*)

*deep breath* Phew! It's been a long time since I've been so spazzy about fandom. I totally didn't even mention Gerard namedropping Alfonso Cuaron for the Umbrella Academy movie (!!!!) or claiming that he wouldn't survive the Zombiepocalypse (SADFACE!)! TOO MUCH AWESOME, WORLD. I don't have TIME. I have lab reports and and... okay, well, just lab reports right now. Which is kind of awesome :D

So. Bandom is a fandom about bands. And I think it's pretty impressive how much we pay attention to the music, but it's also obvious that the boys themselves steal the thunder a lot of the time. I personally was a bandom music fan before anything else, for all the big names - I listened to Fall Out Boy all through high school, probably about 3 years before I even knew who Patrick Stump was. I loved Panic! my freshman year of college - Brendon who? And I listened to The Black Parade for six months before more than vaguely acknowledging MCR's freaky singer. (I'M SORRY GEE ILU)

I know that there are definitely people who fangirl some bandboys without particularly loving their music, which is totally cool, these guys are awesome and so's the fic! But I'm curious about how effective bandom is at converting people to the music... so I'm gonna do a poll!

I want to know whose MUSIC you're a fan of. That is, you own an album or more by a band, have listened to it enough to be familiar, and genuinely LIKE the music. I wouldn't call myself a fan of The Cab - I have their album, listened to it maybe twice, but I don't particularly like it. Just as an example. I would say, on the other hand, that I'm a fan of We The Kings, since the album I downloaded a week ago already has 12 plays.

Satisfy my curiosity, o bandom! (Non-bandom people are more than welcome to answer too!)

List 10 songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 10 songs. Then tag 10 other people to see what they're listening to.

For the record, Dublin is the WORST PLACE IN THE WORLD I could have chosen to spend a year JUST as I was getting obsessed with a bunch of currently popular bands. You know why? Because NO ONE COMES HERE. Belfast? Sometimes! London? Sure! Heck, let's hit Glasgow! And while we're at it, let's go to Malaysia! BUT NOT DUBLIN. Why are we the bastard stepchild of the music world??? D: D: D:

My ENTIRE FLIST this evening is "PHANTOM PLANET!!!" and "LOOK HOW MANY HCT DATES I'M GOING TO!" No joke, every single post. Now, I'm happy for you guys, in an objective way, but right now I am exhausted and drained and upset because I've hurt my knee doing karate and so I'm just sitting here sulking. Because not even the news that Panic was coming to the UK was helpful to me. On top of that, the MCR dates in London were a DIRTY STINKING LIE.

I'm going to go curl up in a sad little ball and watch myself some Torchwood.

I HAS A RACHAEL ([livejournal.com profile] the5thmarauder). \o/

I also has a Rachael converted to bandom, hahaha. It only took me, oh, 3 hours. She was easy ;) Her poisons of choice seem to be Brendon/Ryan and MIKEYWAY, so she's a girl after my own heart! Hee! I showed her tons of pictures and a couple videos and she's a smitten kitten. \o/!

I slept until, um, really late, because I'm still on American time, but it's okay because it's miserable outside so I think we're just gonna have a lowkey day in. Her house is so lovely, very cozy and homey, and her parents are just so sweet. Aaaand I has a Ray! I'm so ridiculously happy to be here. Hurray!

I counted and after next week I'm going to have taken 7 plane flights in the past three months. That's roughly equivalent to all the flights I've taken in the rest of my life! Haha. I guess that's what I get for choosing an island to live on for a year :)

Back to watching Whose Line is It Anyway with Ray and her dad! Hee.

*whine whine whine*

I woke up this morning with pink eye! Not surprising, since my roommate has it, but BLEH. Additionally, when I woke up it was 10:20, and my class started at 10. Whoops. I kind of sighed and started getting ready to make it to my 11 oclock. I get into school and... there IS no class! It's "reading week" for the humanities, which I just thought meant no tutorials, but apparently no lectures as well! So I trudged home, went grocery shopping (FOOD YAYE) and am now contemplating if I want to make the effort to trudge all the way BACK to school to see the doctor.

Meh.

I'm still stressing about the money that I'm spending. Some of the pairs of MCR tickets I was watching ended up selling for muuuch cheaper than we paid, which, um, was unexpected because all the other ones went up to over 100 pounds per pair in the last minutes. Dammit. Also I keep putting off buying the plane tickets because it's so expensive! >.< My dad can be zen about this all he wants, but it doesn't change that I fucked up pretty badly :-/ The only thing that's keeping me from hating myself is that I did this for a friend, and if I hadn't I would have let her down badly. There's no way we could have known other tickets were going to go cheaper, because none of the others did, so that's not really our fault. We're going to have an amaaazing time - if I manage to get there. So. Chin up! Stiff upper lip and all that! (also, FRAAAANKIE)

My flist is distinctly unentertaining right now. I seem to inhabit this weird corner of fandom (no matter what fandom I'm in at any given time) where I don't see any of the actual wank, but I see people talking ABOUT the wank and how stupid it is to wank in the first place. I always agree with those posts, but I don't think they do any good. People are going to wank, period. It's stupid and annoying but it's a fact of fan life. I just close my eyes, stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalala" until it goes away. Like Mikey and Gerard in that one fic whenever their brother's sex life was brought up, hahaha. Good times.

Okay before I got around to posting this I bought my plane tickets. 116 Euro. On my American debit card so conversion fees apply.

Sigh. I kind of want to cry. But I have a flight now. I have a flight and concert tickets and a place to sleep. I think I'll survive.

*deeeeep breaths*

I'm gonna go watch Heroes to make me feel better.

MCR has finally passed 1000! Hooray! Now, these totals are by no means representative of my music listening habits overall - I registered in April, saw the Honda Civic Tour in June, and have not listened to practically anything but Decaydance/MCR ever since. So. Extremely skewed! (And also does not take into account the many years I spent listening to FOB before that, oh man, and the time in 2006 when Panic! was one of my favorite bands) But still fun to look at.

I think I have something stuck way up under my eyelid and it's annoying the crap out of me. Augh. Also I spent all today having a stabbing headache just over my left ear - AWESOME. On the plus side, lectures were good - I really think I'm going to enjoy my European Societies class, not least because I feel like I don't know much about Europe at all, and now I'm learning! The many comparisons that can be summarized as "the USA sucks" are amusing in a bitter kind of way. There are so many things that America is just RETARDED about, ugh. But anyway. I'm so relieved I squeezed something that isn't chemistry into my schedule, because it's a really welcome breath of fresh air for my overwhelmed brain.

Talking to my daddy completely makes my day. Why yes I am 8 years old. But hi, watch me not care, because I ♥ my daddy more than the WORLD. Or something.

I think Simon is ignoring my texts. Which, um. Kind of sucks. I feel really bad now. I wonder if he thinks I'm trying to avoid seeing him? Which I'm not! I'm really not. I want to give him a chance and I think we'd have a lot of fun. But... we can't, if he doesn't answer my texts :-/

I went to Penneys, which is the super cheap ass department store here, and I got two pairs of adorable flats, a pair of sweatpants, a lovely blue scarf, and a couple other odds and ends - for 30 euro! (~$40, keep in mind that Dublin is SUPER EXPENSIVE) Yes, that was two pairs of shoes listed up there! Awesome.

Things Wot Are Awesome: HOORAY THE COBRA!!!!! and Hi I'm Gabe, I'm a dummmy. Ahahah COBRA CHILDREN. SO PRESH. <3333

Now I'm gonna go watch the new Heroes, hurrah!
exsequar: (Girlyrock - Gabe hotass)
I have commenced my second week of lectures (I know, what the hell? You've all been in school for aaaaages) and I'm feeling a bit better about some of them, a bit wary of others. Even though I'm taking just about the same number of hours of courses as I did back home, it feels like a lot more because 8 subjects is so much more overwhelming than 4, especially when 7 of them are chemistry/biochemistry, as opposed to ONE. I'm just not sure how much reading and focus I'm supposed to do or give to each subject. Gah!

Just to show you how insane the life of a chemistry student is, here's my schedule! (Each lecture starts on the hour and lasts ~50 minutes)

Monday:
9 - Quantum Chemistry
11 - Organometallics
4 - Thermodynamics

Tuesday:
10 - Quantum Chemistry
11 - Group Theory
2 - Proteins & Enzymes
3 - Medicinal Chemistry
4 - Proteins & Enzymes
(5-7 - Karate)

Wednesday:
10 - Electrochemistry
11 - European Societies
1 - European Societies
2 - Medicinal Chemistry
(7-9 - Choir)

Thursday:
9-12 and 2-5 - Physical chemistry lab
(5-7 - Karate)

Friday:
10-1 - Computational physical chemistry lab

FUN! \o/ It wasn't SO terrible until I picked up quantum chemistry (two days that started at 11! Score!) but now it's just kind of like I'm going to be dead of exhaustion really soon, heh. We'll see.

Of course, it doesn't help that I have yet to be HEALTHY. I arrived in Ireland with a cough which has STILL not gone away, and now today on top of that I've felt lightheaded, flushed, achey, and tired. I hope it's a 24 hour thing, and not a lingering flu that will lay me out for a week. BLEH. I had to tell Simon not to come up today, because I am just not up for more than drinking tea on the couch, and I think he was angry/disappointed, as his texts were very terse. :(

Also, tonight Kevin Smith is coming to talk to my college, but I really do not feel like making the fifteen minute hike, and then sitting in an uncomfortable chair for however many hours. Like I said. Tea. Couch. Sigh.

Oh I forgot to tell you guys! Guess who might be coming to talk to my school? Oh yeah, that's right, CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY. *falls over laughing* I just... WHAT? What the HELL has Chad Michael Mayhem done to be invited to talk at the oldest university in Ireland??? Ahahaha. There's a chance he might not come, but if he does I might have to go just for the comedic value. Now WHY couldn't it have been Jared or Jensen??? Gosh.

Amusing bandom thing - [livejournal.com profile] redbrickrose was talking about Gabe in an entry, and how you kind of can't take him seriously because then you'll be super skeeved out, so you love him A LOT A LOT but it's very ironic, because let's face it, he's a crazy dude. So then she proposed an Ironic Love spectrum, with Gabe as the most ironic and Gerard as the least. I'm not sure Gerard would be the least for me, but I think it's a hilarious idea, and I want to kind of think about this! If you can give me a pithy and accurate definition of irony, you get a cookie. It's the strangest abstract concept ever. )

Okay, that was all kind of pointless but I spent a long time on it so I'm going to post it anyway! SO THERE :P Tell me where everyone is on your irony scale!

To Do list tonight: Have dinner. Read more d-block chemistry. Post at least some of bandom happyplace spam. Watch Dirty Sexy Money and House.

OH BY THE WAY SGA IS THE MOST AMAZING LOVE EVER. GAH HEARTS FOREVERRRRR.

(Pee. Ess. "I ain't suckin you off for any amount of money." OH GERARD. (From the the end of the live Give Em Hell, Kid off LOTMS))

This post is way too long. Over and out.

Jon Walker, you are a precious paradox of a boy, all frat-boy but SEXY, but then goofy and cute and so, so cuddly with three of the prettiest boys in the world. In short, you're awesome. Hope your birthday was full of happy snuggles with your favoritest boys. <333333

Oh his FACE. )
Have my current favorite picture of the birthday boy, wearing RYAN'S HAT and ridiculous bug eyed glasses. (Seriously, that's all I can think when I see huge sunglasses like that. YOU LOOK LIKE A BUG.) Bonus Spencer being so, so pretty, Ryan's Adam's apple and fiiingers, and Bden in lavender and red glasses! ♥

So, my Michelle called me tonight! YAYE! For those playing along at home, Michelle is my bestie and she's in New Zealand for the semester and I MISS HER LIKE AN ARM, WOE. She informed me that she has been stalking my journal, which I was not aware. HAI THERE LURKER GIRL *waves* Also, Michelle ma belle, I forgot to ask you - what city are you going to in Spain? I know you've told me, but my brain, she is a sieve, sigh. My aunt and uncle are hosting an exchange student from Murcia, Spain, and they were curious if you were going anywhere near there. (Look Meesh, I'm not using a mood theme, so you can more safely respond to this post! \o/ SO YOU BETTER DO IT!)

I spent today finishing up packing. I've got 95% of my clothes packed up, and about 75% of everything else, and I'm feeling pretty good. It was rather stressful to have that hanging over my head. But it's all neat and in the suitcases and that feels nice! I have a couple last minute things to tend to tomorrow, but I'm pretty much SET TO GO, omg! So excited guys!!!! *flail flail*

I thought I had more to post about, but apparently not! TWO DAYS!!!

Random side note: Flailing about the bandom boys aside, my obsession with Decaydance (and MCR) music is verging on ridiculous. I've listened to almost *literally* nothing else in the past, what, three months? I've just got this huge playlist called "Girlyrock" (hee, what, it is!) that's grown as I added Panic! live and Paramore and MCR etc over the months, but it's pretty much all I listen to. There are 193 songs on it, and Camisado wins as the most represented song with four versions (album, Denver, Reading, and demo). Ugh, how am I not sick of them? Especially Panic!! They're all just so amazing, gah. So many hearts.

So apparently bandom is EXPLODING with amazing at the moment. NO SERIOUSLY. Let me sum up!
